I'll be the one to state the obvious that the islanders' phones have been doing a good chunk of Caroline's hosting job since the show began, and that in terms of format requirements a physical host is only really needed for the first and final episodes if anything

tl;dr: the robots are taking over and there's nothing we can do to stop them
