Basically saying loads of times just before and just after the election how he would never form a grand coalition with Fine Gael and how people don't want that, they want change

75% of the population were happy with how Leo handled the pandemic, bad and selfish move for Micheál to demand to be Taoiseach first........would expect nothing less from him though

Makes no sense to change mid pandemic but then I suppose if the roadmap is outlined then he will just stick to that, and keep the Minister for Education in post as that is the key area now, getting kids back to school, or will there be a reshuffle?

Remembering Kerry
|
I think it's really sad that the party and leader in the ascendency.
Is the one excluded from the power and future direction of the Country. I hoped Sinn Fein would be involved. I hope for the Republic of Ireland things go well but can this grand coalition work. I'm not impressed with Leo being replaced. I think that's a negative move. Last edited by joeysteele; 17-06-2020 at 07:54 AM. |

In a vote of 93 Yes to 63 No to 3 Abstain, Micheál Martin is Taoiseach, and Leo Varadkar is Tánaiste. This will be the case until Dec 2022 when they will switch positions.

It's literal translation is actually more like Chieftain or leader not Prime Minister, its just a similar position to what you call Prime Minister is all

I have a Political Science major for a father, and it's because of him and following all of the recent elections across the world in the past year or two; I know certain differences between political positions.
Taoiseach is the equivalent of Prime Minister Tánaiste is the equivalent of Deputy Prime Minister The writs of elections in say Canada are written by the Governor General, whereas in Ireland, the President writes them.
