The Tories screwing over the NHS? Business as usual.
Not that Tory voters will care though, Boris will do something Boris-y, his voters will cheer and guffaw and everything will be right as rain with them as Boris continues to dismantle the NHS. After all, voters did their part, they stood on their step and clapped, they can't be expected to do more than that... Last edited by Tom4784; 25-06-2020 at 07:02 PM. |

To be frrrr, most trusts have tests available on request for NHS staff members. I'm not sure how I feel about MANDATORY weekly testing. It is after all a medical procedure and an absolute cornerstone of a good healthcare system - one that we really don't want to touch, in my opinion - is that any medical procedure should only ever be carried out with informed consent.

Just another attempt to smear the government without justification. There are many things that they can legitimately be called out on without resorting to complete rubbish |

Isn't it an obvious solution though?
With this track and trace thing aren't you suposed to be tested if you've come into contact with those with the virus? That would be huge swathes of the NHS on the daily then?

This isn't scientific.
I do have several of my own family who are NHS nursing staff. They and the colleagues they work with. Are in favour of the tests being done weekly. As a routine. For both their protection and the patients protection. The main danger before was NHS staff weren't being tested at all, during the early period of this pandemic. I'm sure others on here, have family and friends working in the NHS. I wonder if they get a different view to all the ones I've been told of. In the absence of full facts from NHS staff, we only have our views, and from anyone we know in the NHS. I'd like to see, rather than MPs deciding this, for all NHS workers to be asked if they want this. If I worked in the NHS, speaking only for myself, I would. For the line I've been told. To protect myself and ALL other patients too. |

My niece is a medical student, now working in the hospital to help out with covid.
My hairdressers daughter is a nurse on the covid itu ward. Neither want testing as mandatory every fortnight, week or month, but are happy they have an option to have one if they feel the need. So if staff are nervous then they can have the tests if they wish, as their choice. On another note, hubby received a letter from the NHS yesterday asking if he would like to take part in the random home testing scheme. Looks quite straight forward. |

Amazing how he's talked more sense since not being a Minister.
He has been part of the looking at the health issues here. He's talked a fair bit of sense all through on this and a fair few times seemed to contradict the government line. Since becoming the chair of the Health and Social Care Committee. I didn't rate him as a Health secretary, particularly over the junior Doctors dispute he helped inflame. However he had a long stint as Health secretary so must have a fair knowledge of what is required. He's right here, although that's just my opinion.
