Yeah there's no evidence that any god exists, but there's plenty to show that drinking Coke isn't exactly healthy. One's a belief, the others fact.

If any should be punished, it's not the one that did so to encourage young people to drink water.

Quite right. It's about time more people stood up over issues like this.

I'm not a fan of Ronaldo but he has an exemplary record with his young fans, and I admire that.

To be honest I don't think it makes a huge amount of sense for soft drink or beer companies to be sponsoring sporting events in the first place... surely there's plenty of scope for sponsorship from sporting brands? Even energy drinks (sports ones, not caffeine) would make a lot more sense for football than sugary soft drinks and beer . I'm pretty sure Coca Cola own plenty of those too.

I think the worst and most dangerous sponsorship around sport is betting.

Sorry TS x

it's not that long ago, and most certainly in my lifetime where tobacco companies were major sponsors at sporting events and no-one batted an eyelid. That changed by pressure from health groups so the precedent is there to correct the stupidity

I 100% agree, I've been out of the gambling industry for over 2 years now but to be fair - I fully agreed while I was working in it anyway. Football betting is one of the "less" harmful ones but I see it as sort of a "gateway drug of gambling" - a LOT of 18-year-old boys have their first little punt on Football and end up sliding sideways into dog & horse betting, or worse, the slots, by the time they're in their mid-20's. They'd never have set foot in a shop (or onto a site) if it wasn't for "a harmless little £5 football acca on a Saturday".

It's a deliberate tactic of course. Tempt 'em in with a football bet, then bait them into a bigger money-sink with a free bet on Horses or a "competition" free-play on the machines.

I had a vague plan to actually engage in some anti-gambling stuff when I left, but to be honest once I was actually out of there I just wanted nothing more to do with it. Maybe one day.
