The way my house is laid out, I can't always hear knocks at the door from the lounge, so it's really annoying when postmen or couriers only knock, and then I get a "sorry we missed you" slip through the door when I was home ... The doorbell is right there, use it!!
And my house isn't even that big, I don't live in a manshun
but it's an old build, the lounge isn't really that far from the front door "as the crow flies" but it has strange acoustics the way some old houses do.
