One thing I’d say about TiBB in an allied sense is that more people than not are fundamentally honest people (the likes of “Mollie” aside) and tend to be at least fairly similar to what they say they are. The trolling on here (outside the obvious illiterate abuse one notorious member who no-one would trust as far as they could throw him spew for years and years and years) tends to be more bait (which I don’t like but that’s just kind of inevitable) than image deception. I think the days of the latter are long gone. It’s just about your own personal boundaries and how comfortable you feel giving out personal information with forum members in general. Personally I’m not comfortable doing that because of the way my personality’s set up (it goes without saying that I’m pretty reserved when it comes to things like that) but it’s not borne out of distrust per se.
