I am sad for the family of the man who died and those who were injured. However, when you think of the amount of people who fly every day, all around the world, and the number of fatal accidents that are reported, it's obviously a really safe way to travel.

Six Britons in intensive care after Singapore airlines turbulence kills 73-year-old…

Six Britons are in intensive care in Bangkok after their flight from London plunged at high altitude, killing one elderly British passenger, authorities have revealed.

The six are being treated with 14 other passengers from different countries who received serious injuries when Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 hit “sudden extreme turbulence” over Myanmar.

The flight abruptly rose and plunged several times, 10 hours into its journey to Singapore on Tuesday, throwing people around the cabin so violently they left dents in the ceiling.

The drama at 37,000 feet left dozens with head injuries, cuts and broken limbs. Photographs taken inside the plane show the cabin littered with food, drinks bottles and luggage – and oxygen masks dangling from the ceiling.

Devon woman paralysed after being 'thrown into locker' on Singapore turbulence-hit flight…

A woman from Devon has been left paralysed from the waist down following a horrific incident on a Singapore Airlines flight. Kerry Jordan, originally from Appledore, was thrown into an overhead locker as the plane was hit by severe turbulence.

The frightful event unfolded on board the Boeing 777 en route from London to Singapore. Kelly, a dance instructor, suffered a "life-changing injury" during the turbulent flight.

As reported by the Express, she was flying to Adelaide, Australia, with her husband Keith Davis following a holiday in the UK. She is currently recovering at Bangkok's Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, where she is expected to remain for several weeks following emergency surgery.

Her husband said: "As the plane suddenly dropped altitude, she was thrown from her seat into an overhead locker and landed in the aisle where she remained until the flight diverted to Bangkok.

"She had emergency surgery as soon as we were admitted and it remains that she has no sensation from the waist down, so it's pretty life-changing."

The severe turbulence, which hit the flight over the Andaman Sea, resulted in 104 passengers and crew members being injured, with 20 remaining in intensive care. Tragically, a 73-year-old British man died due to the incident.

The turbulence caused the aircraft to descend 6,000 feet in about three minutes, prompting an emergency diversion to Thailand. Dr Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, said at a news conference that none of the 20 patients in ICU were in life-threatening condition.

They include six Britons, six Malaysians, three Australians, two Singaporeans, and one person each from Hong Kong, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

…although no life threatening injuries beyond Geoffrey Kitchen’s fatal heart attack…there were obviously life changing injuries …it really was an horrendous storm/turbulence impact….
