According to what Arista said, it's going to be completed by 2029.

I don’t think he’s talking about the article per -se … more the idea they are spending oooodles on a ski resort whilst the side of the country is being bombed relentlessly by the Ruskies

Well I thought it might be that, but I am assuming if someone is confused as to why, enough to make a thread about it, they'd read the article and would see the answers in there which would clear up the confusion as to why/how money is being spent on a ski resort despite the war.

Well I didn’t read the article ..

It’s a ridiculous scenario and nothing in an article will change my mind

Not that the ski resort will be completed in FIFTEEN YEARS?

Not that it was planned before the war took hold?

And most importantly, not the fact that a private company purchased the land and is funding the construction?

You can't see how any of that is relevant enough to alter your opinion it's a ridiculous scenario?

People not reading things for context and forming opinions off of headlines is frankly idiotic and devalue their opinions instantly.

I would have thought that the armed forces and those innocent towns and villages would appreciate all the manpower and money for the ongoing war against the Russians NOW

Bet those being bombed all day and night weren’t best pleased to hear about the ski resort

Private investment will be extremely important to Ukraine's recovery when the war is over. The government has no money, is entirely reliant on aid and loans, and will be massively in debt at the end of this

…indeed…and it’s quite a risk still that the company who are developing the resort are taking and putting much needed employment etc and investment into the economy over the next 15 years so good luck to them…

‘This large-scale investment signals confidence in Ukraine’s future and the resilience of its economy. With the first hotel complex already under development, the resort is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy by creating jobs and attracting tourists. It also represents a broader effort to prepare the country for post-war recovery by enhancing its infrastructure and hospitality sector.

While Ukraine remains focused on defending its sovereignty, projects like this demonstrate a commitment to resilience and long-term growth. The Carpathian Mountains have long been known for their breathtaking landscapes, and this development could establish the region as a premier travel destination in Eastern Europe.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the determination to build for the future is clear. The new resort is not just an investment in tourism but a symbol of Ukraine’s unwavering spirit and hope for better days ahead.’

Thing is though, the areas being fought over are areas with many of the population wanting to be part of Russia, they were persecuted for this and murdered by the Ukrainian authorities during protests. It is in simple terms, an area where some of it's population wanted to break away from the soveirgn state. Those people in the fighting regions, you could say are the Glasgow, whilst them down south, building the luxurious ski resort arentje english in London..Historically rubbing it in.
