eh? how am i stereotyping?

it's got everything to do with culture. if you haven't been abroad to different countries then you can't really comment on this, but if you have then you'll know that different countries have different cultures and different ways of being. here in the UK it's acceptable to be a lager lout, drink to excess, and pick fights with people over nothing. if you go over to another country you'll find that that isn't acceptable.

it's a culture difference. plus the fact that Rodrigo might just think that throwing items that they need, in the pool like the mangle is a bit stupid.
Well I am Asian so do have a different culture but I don't act anything like Rodrigo. If I see people doing something which goes against my culture, I don't say to them stop doing it because it goes against my culture.. because it's not my place to say it... just like it's not Rodrigo's place to say anything to the housemates.

Also yes you are stereotyping by saying he behaves like that because he is from another country... saying someone behaves in a certain way because of their culture or where they come from is AKA a sterotype.
how long have you lived in england?

i'm really not stereotyping, it's fact. there are many different cultures in the world. in our culture it's frowned upon to lick your plate clean, but in other cultures it will be looked upon as polite.

and marcjswp, i don't even know you so no. i'm just saying some people on here are ignorant. don't know their names coz i don't care to look at who made every post.

Not a valid excuse, if anything it's potential for being more entertaining.

Ahmed, Sree, Angel, Makosi, etc.

Their eccentric nature, contrasting culture and hence personalities, whacky sense of understanding of British life, language barriers, etc ...

all add to humorous effect.

Rodrigo is just too nicey-nicey; by force I hasten to add, and dull in his nature.

Its not the culture hes from, its the way his family chose to raise him, if you had other Brazilians or Latino's in the house, they wont all act like he does. Saying he acts like that due to his culture is sterotyping, its like saying all english people would act like Marcus tonight because thats the culture they was raised in - and this was clearly proven wrong tonight when Lisa didnt take part.

you're not getting it. clearly in the Brazilian culture, respecting your possessions is regarded very highly. a Brazilian person confirmed this in another thread about Rodrigo, so i know it's true.

Lisa she said she'd get her tits out for a fag, there isn't much we can say about her. the only reason she didn't go on the roof is because she was afraid of punishment. so your reasoning fails i'm afraid.

So we're back to tiptoing around cultures and being hypersensitive to what an individual wants? By going into the big brother house, you really are asking to be ****ed with. He's just boring, I bet another Brazilian going into the house would be completely different. Let's face it - Brazilians are by no means ****, but Rodrigo is.

Your missing the point.

The point i mean is everyone who was born in and raised in the british culture wouldnt have acted the way marcus did tonight, the same way that everyone born and raised in the Brazilian/Latino culture wouldnt have acted the way Rodrigo did tonight - its down to how your people raised you, not the culture you are from.

the word was s h i t. I'm just saying that it's nothing to do with Brazilians, it's just Rodrigo is a bit boring and, although he was pretty cool at the start, he's not taking part in enough to still be worth keeping in.

Afromullet is right. All he is saying is... we cannot generalise and expect all Portugese people to behave in the same way and all have the same values, just like all British people do not behave in the same way and have the same values.

is it not the general consensus that picking your nose is disgusting? why is that? this is more related to social norms & values rather than culture but still.

I'm pretty sure not everyone in Brazil could possibly be THAT boring and moany! I understand he wants to have respect for Big Brother, but all he has to do is not join in, not be a kill joy and moan at the other HMs all the time.

When did i deny it? Of course it does, but what has a bigger effect on a person is the way your people raise you, and then when your older, personal choice.
