A lot of it is just adrenaline, I think. It was the same after 9/11, Iraq, etc. The only difference is now we have social media that gives endless away dopamine hits and easy validation, so it could more easily go on for months if not longer...

Initially, the focus was on blaming the left wing, but it has now been revealed that the shooter comes from a Republican background. His father, who works in law enforcement, even reported him. It's remarkable how the rhetoric has shifted. We've moved from discussions of retribution and revenge to merely offering thoughts and prayers for this troubled individual. What a messed-up political environment we have.

I see that AOC and other left-wing personalities are cancelling events. I don't blame them because a retaliation scenario might be emerging: one of you for one of us.

Dunno about that. I’m not saying he wasn’t and I’m not suggesting there aren’t extremists on the left but this doesn’t seem more and more he’s actually further right than even Charlie Kirk.

We’ll see in time but his entire family was MAGA, he was raised around guns and there are suggestions he was a fan of a person who encouraged his followers to try and expose Charlie Kirk as a fake Conservative.

Of course some of this unconfirmed, hence why we’ll see in time, but it’s also not confirmed he was a radical leftist either.

So I ask, those who immediately turned this into a “this is what the left do” situation … what are you going to say if it does come out he’s was right-wing extremists? What you're describing is called "internet blood sports". People are just now finally getting a feel for what that really is and are starting to shift gears from how they interact (or at least their thinking..).

I think that Section 230 will get a closer look soon. They've been in talks of either amending it or repealing. It's hard to say what would happen, but one of the side effects of a repeal could be mean all online moderation goes away or the sites just simply close down because they can't afford the litigation...

Section 230 protects platforms from liability from all the horrible crap that gets posted online.
