£70m gets you Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll and Phil Jones these days. The football market in England has went crazy. I remember 70 million could buy you Zidane and Figo about 10 years ago.

The prices for English players are a joke now. To think the players names you've mentioned cost more than an already established quality player like Van Der Vaart who only went for £8 million.

The game has gone mad, I quite rate Henderson to be fair and Wickham is a good prospect so they are the prices that have to be paid, as silly as they are. That doesn't explain the Carroll transfer.

Carroll transfer was always going to be £15 Million less than the Torres transfer. So if Torres went for £70 Million we'd have been paying £55 Million for Carroll.

Was just a rushed transfer, we were in for Mario Gomez and Llorente after Torres handed in the transfer request, but the bids were rejected so think we just wanted to get a new striker in quickly.

that what i hate about professional sport all around Football, American Football, Basketball Players are being payed in Millions to play sports. That's why there such things as Lockouts or Player Strikes that ruin any sport....imagine if that happened to FIFA because Players are getting too much or getting too little money. The papers are saying that because he's on the last year of his 4 year contract. They would obviously demand more.
