So in the last few days we had a THOUSAND infections in one university and 700 in another one .. surely that shows the infection is spreading through the uni / high school complexes .
They’re basically massive incubation units ...

What is going on in the NE they locked down before the virus took hold so but cases have continually risen since lockdown eased even through the summer when cases elsewhere were low

No point waiting or indeed hoping for ‘herd immunity’ to kick in as it NEVER will for a Coronavirus - herd immunity works for things like Measles where you have immunity all through your life but can never work with Covid 19 as it only has short lived immunity ( around 3 months at best it seems) ..

He also wants people to stop citing the Swedish method given they have had SEVENTEEN times as many deaths as Norway !!!

Not to further wind you up Zizu but if herd immunity is completely ineffective then the likelihood of a developed vaccine working long term is also low.

Of course part of the issue is that people are obsessed with immunity rather than resistance - the reason it would become less serious over time is that (like the common cold) you would catch it asymptomatic or very mild every few years with an extremely low chance of getting more ill. There's a lot more to the immune system than "immune or not immune".

The only realistic scenario at this point is that Covid is with us forever as a mild illness with basically everyone getting it young (under 40) and thus having some antibodies that mean it isnt a worrying illness (over 60), with annual vaccination for vulnerable groups (as with flu).

There is no magic, permanent vaccine coming along to eliminate Covid. If we keep waiting to be saved by a fairytale we're in big trouble.
