The FBI believes there were clear warning signs before the shooting of Charlie Kirk and are probing people in his orbit who may have had prior knowledge of it.

Investigators are delving into the transgender and gaming subcultures in Utah and scouring social media accounts after the discovery of a series of posts that appeared to reflect some awareness of suspected gunman Tyler Robinson and his alleged plot.

'There appear to have been multiple warning signs,' FBI assistant Director Dan Bongino said.

He said 'people in Robinson's network' were aware he had become 'infected' by far-left ideology and 'that his target was obviously going to be Charlie, and that people knew in advance.

Bongino added: 'The question is...did they know? Were they sure of this? Or did they hear this and just write it off? That's what we're going to have to find out.'

Robinson, 22, had a circle of friends from high school who interacted on gaming forums including Steam and Discord.

The litany of suspicious social media posts FBI agents will have to assess, many of which were deleted shortly after the shooting on September 10, also encompasses X and TikTok.

One user called churbum75m, who seemingly followed a friend of Robinson's on TikTok, posted on X straight after the shooting: 'WE *******ING DID IT.'

Robinson was arrested late Thursday evening and the FBI is investigating whether anyone else had prior knowledge of the attack amid a litany of warning signs

Also on TikTok, a video was apparently posted the day before the shooting, showing what appeared to be a morgue technician with eerie music playing.

It said: 'charles james kirk. mr. college dropout does NOT know what's coming tomorrow. be ready…This isn't a threat it's a promise.'

The video went on: 'it's a BADDD day to be charlie [tomorrow]'.

An X post a week before the assassination said: 'itd be funny if someone like charlie kirk got shot on september 10th LMAO.''

One user called @NajraGalvz, who identified as non-binary, wrote on X the day before the assassination: 'Charlie kirk is coming to my college tomorrow i rlly hope someone evaporates him literally.'

In the hours after that shooting that user wrote: 'CHARLIE KIRK GOT SHOT BRO I PROMISE I DIDNT HSVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.'

Another set of posts that may form part of the investigation is one made after the shooting and release of surveillance pictures of the suspect, but before he was caught.

'Hey, I know that guy - it's my buddy Tyler!' the user wrote. 'Unfortunately they have the wrong dude. Tyler was at my house all day yesterday playing video games.'

It was not possible to verify whether that post was real, but investigators are likely to look at it.

Messages sent on the Discord platform after the surveillance images of Robinson were released included one from an acquaintance asking where he was, along with a skull icon.

Robinson replied: 'my doppelganger is trying to get me in trouble.'

Then, two hours before turning himself in, the suspect appeared to confess to a small group of friends in a chat on Discord, which is popular with gamers.

A message from Robinson's account said: 'Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. 'It was me at UVU (Utah Valley University) yesterday. im sorry for all of this.'

Discord is understood to be cooperating with the FBI.

Meanwhile, they are also looking into local groups and networks where Robinson could have been known.

That includes a group called Armed Queers Salt Lake City which deleted its Instagram account after the shooting, the New York Post reported.

The 'socialist queer organization' emerged in the summer of 2020 and provides 'defense to community members threatened by right-wing vigilantes and state violence.'

There is no known connection between Robinson and the group.

Utah is a very old school state, apparently. I'm not a fan of this as it's needless I think, but it is ironic that he may end up going by gunshot the way he killed his victim. I don't know that he'll get DP, though. Juries are more unpredictable when a death sentence is on the table.

A fact I didn't know, a lawyer and everyone involved has to be "death penalty" certified to go to trial. So if you see a lot of old people running the case, that's why. It's very difficult to get to that level of certification given that most trials aren't murder trials...

That's the point though, isn't it. Antisocial behavior has been panning out well. Only now are they willing to put some stop it because I guess finally some invisible line has been crossed...

Speaking to that, riots/uncivil discourse are easy enough to prevent, including events like Jan 6th. They had days of notice and it was very evidence not only temperatures very high, but what some people had intended to go and do if the opportunity had been presented to them. They could've had way more people staged to protect the Capital. Why didn't they? Hmmm.

How is it after things like this happen it's very easy to find or have seen the origins of it on social media. People were posting about this shooting before it even happened.

Law enforcement have better tools than us for scouring social media. They can't catch everything, of course, but that's why they can't let this behavior fester and fester. It's easier to tell if someone is actually planning something if they're not sifting through thousands of profiles of other people sh**posting as self-proclaimed "revolutionaries".

That's the one issue I have with this is, is suddenly media/politicians are pretending they didn't know 1) this could happen and 2) where and when it was likely to happen. They knew something was inevitably going to happen, obviously. Yet they continued to roll the dive every time they encouraged or sewed discord. To restrict their police and change the rules so that they do the bare minimum also incentivized it... and are now they pretend to be shocked to find out that people are even more willing to go beyond the lines they have set...

Militias are technically not illegal in the US, but it does test the limits of 2A (and is very controversial in the modern era).

Historically, States and their communities relied on civilian militias to defend themselves in emergencies (before a national army could be called). It's hard to say how it would work now, but I believe the President still at least has some authority to call up these groups...

Today, more militias focus on the anti-tyranny parts of 2A for the obvious that allow them to organize (if needed) for the purposes of stopping our own govt if it goes tyrannical and less for invasions from foreign forces. The typical ones are often are just formed groups of veterans or other volunteers who still connect to continue to serve their nation or whom are just interested in keeping a time-honored tradition alive.

It is illegal obviously to act as a terrorist organization and start assassinating people, so that's going to be interesting to see how the govt handles that aspect if it plays out there is a strong enough link to Antifa, then maybe Antifa is labeled a terrorist organization. (I doubt it.)

It's believed by some that the Democrats are poking the bear with rhetoric because by insinuating that there are interests "waiting in the wings" to take hold in the US, maybe by planting that seed regularly, one or two of these militias get a wild idea and that will help them out politically with carving more away from the Constitution, including 2A.

Militia groups that would be considered right wing often appear at protests especially where groups like Antifa are meant to be active. A lot of drama happens at the protests just because of the groups doing different things to get the other to overreact (and maybe get arrested).

Fun fact: Some biker gangs are part of these militia groups. (Though they're usually called something else)

There are memorials going up left and right. Small gestures locally and all over social media. Most people don't think this is normal in any way shape or form and even seem offended on a personal level that some people actually think this can become a normal thing. Some are still in shock and processing. His funeral hasn't even been held yet and there's a public memorial planned on the 21st. However, there's also a memorial not terribly far from us with public speakers and it's supposed to be a 2-day event on the 19th.

Sports stadiums (including small outfits), affiliated or not with their home teams, are still holding their own memorials. Many churches have now gotten more directly involved in pointing out problems with political discourse. So many different organizations, teams, shops, etc, coming out now suddenly showing support for human decency because the line has apparently been drawn and they feel they just can't sit by. We're not getting proper leadership so individuals are now putting their own thumb on the scale and saying "too far".

The online stuff looks grim, but offline the positivity far outweighs the celebrations, imo. Some of the online is "interesting" from the perspective of human nature and I guess seeing how far we've slipped, but it doesn't really paint a complete picture. This has changed the mentality and the temperature of the country massively. It's no longer a match between left and right. It's now national,... "What do we do from here?". It's more like post-9/11 in terms of the earthquake that's being delivered, especially when just seeing how many people are in shock and genuinely upset this is even possible. In politics, at least there is a point. This was simply a senseless murder that had no point to it whatsoever.

…it was a senseless shooting and it’s just thankful that Tyler Robinson didn’t then turn his loaded rifle into the crowd from his rooftop sniper position ….i read that the 71 yr old man, George Zinn who shouted that he’d fired the shot….?….has said that he did so to create attention and further chaos in order to allow for more time for the killer to get away from the scene of his murder…he’s also been charged for obstructing justice but there are other charges apparently…in connection with child abuse images found on his phone…
