Remembering Kerry
|
IF the government choose to ride over the input and knowledge of the area and people from the Mayors, local government leaders and even MPs,
One of whom is Graham Brady Conservative who at present also isn't happy with the government plan. That is likely to alienate the population there, it's going to send a worrying message in a constitutional sense. I think the government need to think very carefully here. The Mayor, Andy Burnham, like him or not..made a reasonable request for those particularly on the minimum wage, not to be forced to lose income. This lockdown of tier 3 would have been a hopefully few weeks to a couple of months duration. The government can find funds easily for other projects when it suits them. They in my view are wrong here. They should ensure no one on the minimum wage loses out. As they should also in any area, where they enforce tier 3 too. It's worrying and should be, that we have a government acting so confrontational and dictatorial. It should put in place a circuit breaker across the board in my view. With all the right and same support there was during the lockdown from March. If you have to lockdown, then little has changed for the better. So no way should the support package be diminished in any way either. |

like it or not, a lot of people in Manchester have been ignoring the restrictions and will continue to do so. We have had varying restrictions in places across the country since the summer and its done no good at all. Closing bars wont achieve anything when the infection has largely come from the young/student population. People wont stop meeting up in each others homes, and that can't be enforced
There is a simple message ... people need to social distance ... sure it can be enforced in a public setting, and it has been largely successful, but that's not where the infection is spreading All that authorities can do is keep ramming home the message about not mixing within the home environment and hope that those currently ignoring it get the message eventually Last edited by bots; 20-10-2020 at 08:31 AM. |

crazy, so many parts of Ireland particularly rural Ireland has such low infection rates, In the town I come from there have been a handful of cases, and no covid deaths, yet all non essential businesses are shut

not many listen in my country either, and most of all those ''Viruswaarheid - VirusTruth'' morons are daily protesting in The Hague now, insulting our parliament with very vile nasty names
also reading how some think of Netherlands as ''most fascist country'' or some who say ''even under hitler you had more freedom'' makes me cringe and ashamed to be dutch in Germany almost everyone can obey the regulations nicely, not many cases in majority of country, most hospitals over there are now trying to get people with other illnesses to come again and get treatments as for the anti-maskers with them, that group just gets smaller and smaller as months go by i've seen on their news

Many people are just tired of restrictions, we can't get away from that. The longer it goes on, the more will ignore them. It's just normal human behaviour. Come Christmas time many will just ignore restrictions, and then we will have 3 months of hell until the better weather appears. It's not something unique either, restrictions just cannot work unless it is very short term and short term restrictions are not effective in dampening down infection

yes and also seems quite debatable topic regarding corona in other countries than ours
What can we learn from countries like Germany, South-Korea, New-Zealand, Australia, Italy? since all those seem to be doing quite well now

so what measures can work
*Face Mask Requirements indoors AND outdoors *Full Lockdown, people only leaving their homes for either supermarket or doctor on paperwork form *Work from Home most of the time *a Ban on Protesting rights, no more protests, lock the anti-maskers up in their homes so they cannot interfere with our plans of eliminating covid-19 most of these are a must, if we want to keep enjoying our freedom healthy and in a safe way once covid pandemic is over

I dunno. 1) They tried local lockdowns and it didn't really work probably because 2) Germany has a comparatively orderly and "sensible" society compared to the UK, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that people in a localised lockdown in the UK will stick to their own area, and not just take a jaunt to the nearest area that's open for business.

In many ways I equate this with smoking. We have known for decades that smoking was bad for you .... did it stop people from starting to smoke? No. It has taken generations to get the message across that it would be better not to smoke. Covid is going to take it's course |
