i dont see any resemblance between u2 and coldplay, anyway coldplay are a bit like radiohead but i dont find them suicidal like radiohead.

I'd say Coldplay are much more depressing. One, It's all whiny falsetto-esqe crap that borrows liberally from far more successful bands, and two, It's that bad it makes me want to take a running dive off the nearest building. I can't stand them at all, they're just so.....generic.

Lol, who compares Radiohead unfavourably to Coldplay? Coldplay completely and utterly owe their success to them. I can forgive the OP for doing the same with the Beatles as he obviously just wants to anger people and stir up heated arguments.

Coldplay are nothing but a pale watered down imitation streamlined for Middle England. If Radiohead were Miles Davis, Coldplay would be Kenny G. If Radiohead's OK Computer were Mozart's Requiem, Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head would be Karl Jenkins' Requiem. Geared totally towards people who buy one CD a year and want nothing more out of music and musicians than to be cynically catered to.

And how can you say Coldplay have never sounded like U2 when Chris Martin literally models himself after Bono these days. Crucifixion poses, narcissistic posturing... he has it all down to a tee. You cannot tell me this...

..sounds nothing like this.

I don't think it's right to argue about who's crap and who's not! It's all down to personal taste.. I PERSONALLY love Coldplay and U2 but I hate Radiohead so much I want to cut my ears off when I hear them!.. Doesn't mean I am right though.. I know a lot of people idolise Radiohead, so again, it is just personal taste!

As far as The Beatles go... I appreciate them, and I like singing along to their songs and I go through phases of loving them but I just seem to have had a Beatles overload recently, so can't say I am too excited about Saturdays XF

Heard the lions share of both their work, have we?

Coldplay owe a huge amount to U2 and Radiohead. The way Chris Martin clutches himself and bounces around stage like his having a happy stroke, the poor mans Anton Corbijn attempt at 'remembered' visuals, the pseudo emotional 'dis be uplifting. uplift' arrangements.

All that and more. Only for people who don't listen to much music [that's the reality, but obviously I'm not speaking for everyone here. I know other, smaller segments of their fanbase are different].

Here's a little thing about Coldplay : I know a million Coldplay fans, but nobody who lists them as their absoloute favourite band.

Don't get me wrong, some decent enough bands fall victim to this too. I'm looking at you, Muse and Killers.

They don't. But I DO prefer and listen to The Who and The Rolling Stones far more. I think some of the Beatles stuff sounds dated in comparison.

It just goes to show how piss the 'Phonics are that I will give Jedward a pass in that post because to be fair Jedward are just trolling the music industry ...

... but the Stereophonics aren't trolling the music industry. No they just really, really suck. I can't believe you mentioned them in the same sentence as The Beatles.

Generic Welsh douche rockers who should have been filling stadiums at this point in their career if they were any decent.

Can you come up with three points as to why they deserve long term recognition in the music industry?

Makes you think of how banal and ****ing boring they are.
