Selective reading MTVN - maybe you want to tell others to cut it out too..... or are you just one a mission to target one person - despite others nipping at my heels - or doesn't that rule apply to everyone.

I'm not going to discuss this now and derail the thread further, I've said "let's cut it out", that applies to everyone.

Anymore off topic posts will be deleted/infracted, don't say you weren't warned

I'm more than happy to keep on topic - and more than happy that it applies to all though I'd be happier if your personalised post to me was amended to make that clear. In the kindly spirit of the thread of course: peace, harmony and goodwill to all men (and women).

I dont think I have ever seen what I would class as an 'obscene' card.

I must be shopping in the wrong places

I saw a rather quality one, internet version last night. Rude, crude but very funny.

You can't be looking in the right places !!

I dare say there will be some outlets selling 'obscene' cards.. just off the high street lol..

You don't really see traditional cards/calendars now though. We used to have a small local shop run by a muslim guy and he was the only one who sold the religious cards with the nativity scene etc. Bit ironic lol.

I think this article sort of illustrates how morals have changed in society these days, apparently if it 'sells' it's good enough.

I don't think it's new though - it's been like this for many years.

If it sells -it sells because it is what people want to buy. The world changes - c'est la vie.

People would probably buy tickets to see executions in the streets too. Perhaps we should just sit back and let that happen too?

After all, it's ok because people want to buy it

when public executions take place in the UK -let me know and I'll give you my thoughts on that.

Till then, if retailers want to sell cards that people want to buy: then I don't have any issue with that at all. People spend their own money on what they want to spent it on. If that isn't religious cards: so be it. It's their money.

It seems to me that the unwritten point of the article is that society seems to have such low moral fibre these days. We prefer obscenity to religion.

Maybe I'm being prudish but it concerns me where it's all going.

Thanks, but I think I'd prefer to drown in boiling oil than hear your thoughts on anything at all.

You can hardly equate the two, but demand and supply is just the basic rule of economics, and it's the reason for the Christmas card imbalance

just because things are economical, or profitable doesn't make them right though

I remember when I was quite young, getting a church card from my aunty. I was gutted because my little sister who was about a year old got a lovely big glittery snowman card...while I had this little brown thing with black writing and a nativity scene on the front

I remember that Christmas I received a card with a knob joke and immediately wanted to see someone hanged

I already apologised for that.

Flip the coin, I dont like getting the religious cards. Should I be moaning on and saying people should/could live without them and bringing morality into it?! Nah of course not. Just I personally would rather not receive them.

I put the religious (boring) ones away at the back or underneath - with all the nice cutesy glitterly, golden foil ones at the front.

I really think it's about time people started being honest with what they think without "offending minority groups". Britain is a CHRISTIAN country and therefore we have a RIGHT to endorse it. If people don't like it be quiet, frankly. Politcal correctness sucks so bad!!! Honesty is the best policy. And mass Capatalism also sucks too!!!
