..this is probably a silly question, but as the paying for DS has been mentioned, I thought I'd ask...do forums make money..?..Mark owns TiBB but doesn't actively seem to take part, so does he just do it for everyone else who enjoys it or is it a money making thing..?...

Sites can get money for for ads
that funds them, in many cases.

Mark popped back the other day.

DS is not like TIBB
they are part of a Mag
and not free to speak on everything.

Its like when Ch4 Big Brother had Forums
they started Delete threads fast
So you could not speak like here.

TIBB is important
as it has a Owner that set it up
who is not part of a TV Company or
and has Not Sold it to King Richard at Ch5, for example.

Most Forums are non profit.

The ones that charge Employ
people/lawyers to stop threads they do not want.

Some forums make a lot of money through ads, like DS they are normally purchased by big companies once the site's been running for a while and the traffic is good then they proceed to insert ads all over the place, I'm talking like ads at the bottom of members posts on every thread plus banner ads etc and they end up making a lot off them.

Then theres forums that charge money for sign ups, subscriptions like maybe for entry to a certain part of the forum it could be an over 18's section a tutorial section and so on.

There are too many ads on DS. They really get in the way sometimes.

Not all ads are pay per click, lots of companies will pay you to place banner ads on a forum or website if they are happy with the amount of traffic the forum gets.

I'm not saying this site is funded that way though.
