It's not necessarily an acceptable thing to do but in the heat of the moment I could understand somebody not really thinking it through and just doing it. There's a grey area here between how it's unacceptable and people being understandably upset and acting on impulse.

Actually I guess the real question is what exactly was asked of the family member and if there was any malicious intent. There's a difference between

'Do you know someone called Mike, and does he know a girl called Mollie?'

and

'Just to let you know your daughter/sister/whoever has been stealing some girls pictures and duping people on an Internet forum for four years. Bye'

Both unacceptable but one is worse than the other. The intent is quite important here if bans are actually being considered.

Permbans for all involved as well. Infact anyone who has stole pictures and posted them on the forum should be permbanned. Don't get why some are allowed to be left to swan around still.

the thing is the mods have to work out who did what which is not always easy it might take some time but i sure the mods will take action when there have finished there mini investigation

The reason nothing has been done to anyone is because to be quite honest we dont know what to do. I see staceys ban has been alluded to in this thread, staceys ban was an admin decision, not mods, though most mods did agree with it.

This is definitely a matter for admin, and they are looking into it.

Jesus, mike wont be banned for a multiple acocunt, as 'mollie' was his only account I dont think we will be seeing him back here though tbh. Which is a shame because i would like to know his side of the story, but I can also understand why he would never want anything to do with the place again.

Vanessa, what on earth are you going on about, noone gets punished anymore? have you gained access to the towers in some way? Have you gained the ability to see everyones infractions? Have you not noticed people being banned recently? What an odd post

I don't think it matters what was said. They shouldn't have been talking to his family members in the first place. And then the whole finding birth certificates and stuff

I think some kind of ban for those involved may be in order and of course it's unacceptable, I just mean that the heat of the moment aspect should be taken into account, people will be understandably upset and angry and will want answers, and may without much real thought have just acted on impulse and went for family members, without sound judgement. That's the only reason why I think that should be taken into account when deciding on any bans and the length of them.

Well you could give them the choice of blanket bans for all involved or people could admit to their roles in it.

But if Mollies account is being left open, then don't really see how it's plausible to ban others. I know 2 wrongs don't make anything like a right, but I'm not sure the mods can really win whatever happens here.
