I love this tune (I prefer the Jose Gonzalez cover tbh) but it's a great song. It's one of the greatest electronica creations to come from the last thirteen years but alas, like most of the best tunes failed to do impressively in the charts, but luckily it hasn't been forgotten (like a lot of the songs that make the charts). Scandinavian music is where some of the best music lies.

The heavy metal band's offering of a softer song did them much justice, showing that they could do more than loud, heavy songs. The 3rd single from the album 'Toxicity' it gained the band a second nomination for the Grammy's in 2003.

Finally released in the UK, after over a year from everywhere else, this surprisingly managed to claim the #1 spot in the charts this week. This happy, summery synthpop song from the Swedish duo goes to show that not all music this year has been poor and this song will get into your head and make you sing without even realising it. We do love it.

One of the biggest dance songs of 2001 and the decade, this song was a massive success in the clubs and the charts and rightly so. Unlike a lot of dance that was a bit trashy and too europop this won over many fans who would often blast it from which ever music source they could.

The second single from their second Album 'A Weekend In The City' this amazing tune played throughout many a uni dorm that year and gave the band another top 20 single in the UK and also giving them their best position in the Billboard Top 100 at #34.

This is a brilliant list so far Ben and I don't think you should have to justify why songs are in the list against what people might think. 21 Seconds is a garage classic and cleverly written; Bleeding Love turned the X Factor into a show that produced pop stars and not just Saturday night karaoke TV and it sold massively etc. looking forward to more!

The 4th album from the British electronic duo saw this track take the limelight during a time when this style of music wasn't popular or mainstream. Unfortunately they have never quite had the success that Aphex twin has had but Plaid seem to stick to what they do best regardless of it being popular.

Another of those songs people expect to do well in the charts but doesn't. I first came across this song when the Kiwi post-punk revival band played in Melbourne and on returning to the UK found it being often played on the radios here. This song just makes you feel happy when listening to it. They were compared to MGMT, but never saw the big success like they did.
