I watch a fair bit on there... Stacey Dooley's docs
, Family Guy, the random 9pm docs they have which are usually good. Old before my time was really good, can't remember when that was on. I'd definitely miss it if it went.

Tony Hall expected to announce he will save BBC4 and make channel that first aired Gavin and Stacey online only
BBC3 is due to Axed in a few mins as he goes to the BBC Trust meeting http://www.theguardian.com/media/201...lans-tony-hall Last edited by arista; 05-03-2014 at 05:35 PM. |

^ you're overthinking things, if they merge bbc two & four it would be perfectly fine. forget about this 'testing ground for new shows' rubbish, the point of the bbc before anything is to provide a public service yet they're taking away their only channel which caters for teenagers & young adults

Stellar all-star line up

Merging Two and Four would definitely cause a lot of Four's programming to be lost or simplified (although not as much as some people think), but something that would absolutely be lost is BBC Four's identity and character, something I think Three will retain in it's move online.

It was always going to be between Three and Four, and Three's content just adapts better to the online environment.

can't say I'm fussed, there are other channels putting out the Family Guy/American Dad reruns (and to be honest I think we've all seen each episode about 40 times anyway?) and the best of the rest will be picked up by others.
too much crap and trashy TV to be a loss to me. and lol @ the usual "i don't watch something so it MUST be bad!" comments re: bbc four. get some culture.

If the move to online turns out to be true it may be interesting, as I've wondered sometimes about how eventually we may end up in a situation where most TV shows are available on the internet to watch when people want to, and so BBC3 could pave the way in that respect.
I still stand by what I said though, if you close BBC3 you're cutting off the one channel that the public service broadcaster is providing for young adults, personally I think that's going against the remit of the BBC and isn't acceptable. The criticism at BBC4 is unjust, and I don't dislike that channel at all - they brought Parks and Rec to the UK for one thing, but their shows do overlap with BBC2, and I'm sure there could be a way to rebrand the three new existing channels to have family entertainment, sport and drama on BBC1, cutting edge documentaries, historical and cultural based and up and coming shows on BBC2 and teen dramas, comedies, documentaries and political based shows on the new BBC3 which would run 24 hours a day.
