im from the usa so I don't know her backstory, but her treatment of Alicia didn't feel 'nice', mainly trying to force her not to talk to certain people, after calling her stupid to her face, I dont mind her but that was kind of dick-ish

They're definitely enough reasons as to why a lot of the British public might not think that she's a nice person.

Katie Hopkins herself seems to be against freedom of speech, and the freedom to do any action that you want, if her behaviour in the house is anything to go by.

She knows she has to be civil in the house. It's all part of a plan of hers to turn her public image around. This doesn't change her ridiculous views on Ebola, Ginger people, Michael Brown, Palestine, and unemployment among other things. These statements are what she is famous for and also being a contestant on The Apprentice. She talks about having a successful business which is dubious.
