Ok, I am overweight and disabled.

I support Katie Hopkins as I realise she is not all bad as accused by some.

I feel, I could have a laugh with Katie H, many disabled people have good sense of humour and can see her as just a gobby columnist.

She doesn't offend me as I am a genuine disabled person, she has goes at those cheating the system and those who just simply overeat.

Because I cannot get about, therefore everything I eat, I cannot work off and my medication also has awful side effects.

I don't see Katie having goes as anything more than her view of saying it like it is for those who won't work or overeat or collect benefits which are not genuine claims.

So, don't speak for me, those who call her horrendous names, you do not represent me at all. There are others who she may have upset but it is up to them to say so, no one else..

Good for you Poppsy. I totally agree with you. I'm not disabled, but I do hate the benefit cheats who take money from the system when there is eff-all wrong with them. That money could be better spent on people who are genuinely disabled and need funds spent to adapt housing etc. Where I live there's a 'won't work' culture and yet they all have foreign holidays and brand new 'motability' cars. It sickens me. I was raised to work for things you want, and only to claim if you are in genuine need. So yeah, if that's the people KH has been slagging off, then I agree with her.

As to being overweight... I''m a fatty.. and it's because I eat junk food, and don't exercise enough. When I eat right, and exercise regularly, I lose weight, so she might be blunt, but she's right.. I'm fat for no other reason than my own lifestyle choices, so how can I get offended for that. It's like getting offended for being called loud when you are loud.. (which I also am... fat, loud and proud... got a lot goin for me here... haha)

She is gobby, feisty, stubborn and has a huge persona and I like her.

She has kept me entertained by her time in the house and no one is going to use my disablement by talking for me.

My daughter is also disabled but she has a good life and can and will speak up for herself.

I don't want or need the PC Brigade jumping on my case by attacking KH as they are.

To be fair this thread wasn't about anything she has said about fat or disabled people. It was about her mocking a dying woman by referring her as an "Ebola bomb".
And someone doesn't have to be a target of abuse to be upset by it. It's called empathy.

Empathy is fine as long as it is just that and not ignoring that some might be disabled but we have a tongue in our heads and can and will put our point of view across and don't want someone who has little idea, lumping us all together to attack KH.

There is a difference, we have genuinely disabled people who should be able to claim but then there are those who scrounge and get everything. My daughter is disabled and there is no possibility of her working. My ex nextdoor neighbour was classed as disabled and yet he was out underneath his car, cutting hedges, standing on ladders etc. etc. That is the difference and imo that is how it should be read. Genuine disabled people do not ask for the disability but they need to be supported. So let us separate her views and understand what she was saying.

They would feel like the rest of society doesn't care about them.
