As much as I like the Carters, the show managed perfectly fine before them and will after them.

It's survived the loss of Den, Angie, Peggy, Pauline, Pat, Grant and other much more popular, much more famous characters.

Isn't it ironic that now that SOC is actively trying to broaden the community aspect and make it feel like an ensemble, the show actually feels more dead and lifeless than ever.

Like think back to the time Lucy died and the whole thing was bustling.

Or when Janine tried to flee and all the characters were stood around in the Christmas market watching her get arrested.

It feels empty now. EastEnders is at its best when it feels busy.
