I'd like to think that I'm pretty impartial on this subject? I was thinking a few weeks ago how nice it would be to have several chat threads.. but I was thinking more along the lines of chat threads covering different things.

Like obviously there is already the main chat thread, but it would be nice to have one for like big updates - if a person was to move house or have a baby or something, maybe a chat thread could be used for like advice and guidance, and there could be like tens of different threads, and big news, or sad news wouldnt be drowned in the one main chat thread...

Just lots of chat threads, for lots of unique topics..

Great idea. It's good to have new ideas, keeps stuff active and not all hidden away in the inactive private chat

That's what the private chat section is for. So someone can create a thread in that area with those updates and stuff and it is only viewable to members and not random strange lurkers.

I personally would be more comfortable sharing big news or sad news in a thread that was dedicated to that.. but i do see your point

It doesnt have to always be death lol? Could be failing to get the job you wanted, not hitting the grades you needed, going through relationship issues etc... and people would just be prepared to console the members that want to share these things without making an entire thread dedicated to themselves personally.
