There are many people much more deserving of care than her in my opinion. Besides she can buy all the private treatment she wants/needs - I don’t think the NHS will be involved. - do you!

Morphin’s the worst of the worst. No one deserves the lows that come with it. Not even your worst enemy.

Seen the edit in my post and Brillopad’s SD thread. I’m with her on something for a change.

What’s the point in having the option to discuss if we think grown men and women aren’t thick-skinned enough to take minor insults, hm?

That's quite a narrow-minded view of things, Brillo, no disrespect... Addiction isn't a choice. Fame doesn't equal happiness. If we can spare time for people with depression, we can also spare time for people who are suffering so much that they have to resort to drug abuse.

What needs to happen more often in the Music Industry is just let the singers be themselves which would give them a better chance at being happy.

I just feel as though if this was your average homeless person we'd all be saying ''good, just another junkie!'' and laughing at them, but since it's a celebrity we're all rooting for her to get help? Why not root for everyone who does heroin to get help.

Considering I'm the only one who has actually said this I'll assume you're aiming this comment at me, and I don't doubt that it was her choice. But that would have been before it became an addiction. Generally, you're not addicted to something when you're doing it for the first time. That's quite obvious.

Echoing what TS said earlier as well, so many celebrities become addicts due to personal sadness. They are surrounded by a bevvy of "yes men" and are able to hide the extent of their abuse much better than joe public. This leads to a spiral of addiction and rehab usually. They also have the disposable income needed to sustain and feed the habit. It is a tough circle to break. I have massive empathy for anyone with addiction issues, addiction is an illness in itself.

Hope Demi manages to sort her demons and get well.

And how about we let people grow a bit of thick skin on here for a change?

It’s a Big Brother forum. I don’t expect anyone to come on here feeling the need to be wrapped in some procteted bubble. Let people have it out with each other if the alternative is threads being deleted for no reason other than someone expressing a different opinion in a non-mega-PC way. What Brillopad said about Demi Lovato ruffled more feathers and crossed more lines than I said putting aside artificial rules and protocol.

Someone having problematic views, like Brillo has in this thread, doesn't give you the right to insult them. Instead you should respond to what they are saying the right way, beat them in a debate, not by pelting them with insults. Somebody else's actions do not justify your own. |

The thing is though, the stories of most people who go down that path are just pretty horrible. I mean just some really unthinkable, messed up stuff.

No one sets out to become an addict, be it drugs or alcohol, and yes with something like heroin that "first time" is a stupid decision, but at the time it happens it tends to be that the person just isn't thinking or doesn't care enough not to be tempted. Past trauma is a HUGE factor with heroin addicts. It's not every single case but it is a large percentage. That of course doesn't excuse some of the crimes that many addicts go on to commit, and obviously not every person with a bad past ends up an addict, but it's certainly not as simple normal well-adjusted people just one day stupidly deciding to try a spot of smack. |
