...it’s the difference between PPE face masks where the purpose is to protect and face coverings which don’t protect, but evidence suggests that wearing one may protect others though... if someone was infected but didn’t realise as sometimes people have no symptoms etc...a face covering or the type of mask that many of us have are not PPE and not made to protect the wearer as surgical/medical masks are...
