Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me started on +1-1 games, I got my posts count to what it is, by posting about topics, same as the rest of the guys on here, I mean it'd be nice to have an extra red star, but that can wait, its not important

Ah well, 18+ sections usually tend to have swearing in them...
Some forums even have 18+ sections with sexually explicit material.

I don't think that would be good for TiBB's image.

I think most young members who are a little immature and post excessively, usually text type too...or say inappropriate things. So most of them are probably dealt with.

And of course, older members can be just as guilty for excessive posting.
Im sure sub section could be put in place
Yeah, why not? Let's add a sub-forum for members like you who have been here 6 days, a sub-forum that members who have been here for 2/3 years are not allowed to go in? If that happened then I'm sure TiBB would lose a lot of members.

As for post count, you are obviously going to get meaningless crap posted and however much everyone says we hate it, it's never going to stop, it's a shame but it's true. That said, I don't think post count should be removed as it's part of the forum and yeah, people will abuse it but people also abuse the use of smilies and use them constantly but the smilies shouldn't go. People will abuse all features of the forum, intentionally or not unfourtunately.

Yeah, I don't think posting a Smiley add's anything to this debate we have going here, it just is pointless and just doesn't add anything or putting anything across.

I have just been thinking on how to promote good thoughful posting and I think I have found a good solution.

Use the karma system, members can add or remove karma every three hours but mods and admin should have the power to give out points and take away points for good and bad posts whenever they feel free.

If they see someone has added a thoughful post +
if a silly responce has been made -

simple really

exept it wouldnt work for some as we have the right to switch it off... but it would be a possitive step towards better posting

That sounds like a positive idea to me...
Though im not sure what the administrators view would be on having the extra responsibility to examine posts and leave karma points.

Perhaps a team devoted to your idea would produce better results.

Either official staff eg. Post Assessors.

Or a topic where people can apply and the administrators choose who is suitable, then put them on a list.

The topic could be stickied/pinned to let people know who are on the list of people who examine posts and leave karma. Without the need to make a staff position for them.

All your posts are worthwhile..... in fact I was saying that to Red Moon last night

Debate is over
Thanks Kiz I do appreciate what you said !

I don't like the idea that mods and admins would be able to give and take away karma as they see fit as why them? Yeah they do a great job on the site but who's to say the system wouldn't be abused that way? The mods obviously have their favourite members and they would obviously give a load to them and vice versa as they probably have their least favourite members.

Also, all members are able to decide whether a good, thoughtful post has been made or whether a silly one and should therefore be able to give or take away the karma. I just don't think it would be right to allow some people to have special karma powers as appose to others.

How long have you been a guest for though?

Post count is all part of the forum, the admin have compromised so much with the post count by moving it to 5000+, 10000+ etc as well as having it not work in the Chat & Games, people want it to stay how it is, it shouldn't go as it is part of the forum.

I think he/she is refering to your suggestion about the Mods and Admin having unlimited karma powers so they might abuse it.

TIBB is not as it used to be, in the past we (old members) didn't think about the post count and we had great debates, at the beginning I didn't realise that it does exist, only one month after someone told me what the numbers meant.

I'm really sad to see how TIBB has changed in the bad way but fortunatly the old members like Kiz does understand us. And she's so right to tell what's happening cause we need a discussion like that.

Bad posters should get banned for bad posts, only and only if it happend plenty of times, all day long. I don't target anyone of course.

I think it's quite weird the fact that old members have to take the habits of the new ones, it's scandalous, we have to be sad, angry of being agressed for anything. Newbies should respect the rules and respect our opinions.

I dont think that would happen to be fair, as all karma is logged and admins can check whats been dished out.

I think we have a really good selection of admins and mods who would be fair
