As long as it isn't the old skool fat women in dungarees then that would be good
You really ought to get out more..
hehe lol

i agree with what 30stone said.....
and why did they make a "miss black britain" in the first place.
If you read the rest of the thread I try to explain that but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears *sigh*

I take it OP youre opposed to the MOBO as well, and having BET television. Well its all nice and good to say people are trying to promote equality, but the fact is, its not really. The UK is very, very far behind when it comes to that. ANd I dont know this, but has there ever been a black miss UK? I dont know the answer to that but, I am guessing probably not!

LOL@This thread. The same old argument over and over agian.

I agree with AintMadAtchas stance. Theres definitely a Miss Black America so why not have one over here. Thats all I'm going to post cuz I have a tendency to go a bit over board in the threads on racism.

I think positive discrimination best describes this situation. There are fewer black models because there are fewer black people than white people in this country. There aren't even all that many models in general, by profession, sure you get people who dabble in various different media based professions, but very few full time models in proportion to the size of the population. I just don't see the point in the competition - Naomi Campbell is one (and the only one I can think of, which is maybe the basis for the For argument) example of a highly successful black model in the UK. I'm not really up to date on modelling in the UK, but she and Kate Moss are the first two to spring to mind when I think of the word model.

So fair enough there's a Miss Black Britain, but I just think that black women should go for the original Miss competition and win it on their own merits instead of demeaning ALL models by making it specific to one colour. Change can only happen if somebody makes it happen - it won't just do it all by itself.

I see what your saying but I think the organisers were frustrated that there is a disproportianate amount of black women in that industry. And in the long run I think it will encourage more black women to enter the main miss UK, which it seems is failing to attract black women into it and still has mainly white judges and only one asian girl has won it ever etc
