Fair enough, you didn’t make it clear though . We get someone saying ‘the infections are down today !” more or less every Saturday. As regards being the eternal pessimist..I’m actually quite upbeat after this week . Figures do seem to be plateauing although that could be due to the half term circuit break ... when i used to commute every day, i saw the same people on every journey, there isn't infinite interactions. When social groups mix it's a similar thing. This means that infections have a finite spread. When the infection rate goes down it basically means these groups have been saturated with the current covid strain. With high vaccination rates, some people just won't be affected in groups at all. The infection rate will drop significantly at some point, it's a statistical certainty as long as the dominant strain remains the same
