Its a bull**** argument and you know it. No one is against immigration. I have emigrated myself. Its the scale and amount of people who have arrived many unskilled and here to claim asylum to abuse a generous benefits system that people are pissed of with. And I know first hand due to my contacts in the health industry who have to deal with asylum seekers getting pregnant purely to get a passport to remain here. Come down to the capital and see the effects yourself. You dont live in the real world. |

As for asylum seekers, I think it's worth mentioning that you actually need to be a British citizen to to claim any sort of benefit. I doubt very many asylum seekers make it beyond the stage of refugee camps anyway. Of course there is the question of EU laws and freedom of movement. But shouldn't the question be "how can customs be so ineffective in tackling illegal immigration" rather than "since when were so many of these brown people able to get into our country?". And isn't this just what it boils down to regarding a lot of people's feelings on the matter? You pretend you are "not against immigration" all the while making out the idea that Britain is a country of immigrants to be a "bull**** argument".

This made me laugh so much. What a plonker.
We were analysing this in Media today and how different newspapers view it differently, with some calling his act disgusting and some saying that he feels bad about it. But seriously, how embarassing. You got to admit it, we have all said something bad about someone before, but just imagine it being shown in front of millions whilst saying it. LOL at his radio interview. He put his foot in it. That would have lost him the election for sure. |

As for my argument with Sticks, I never said "Britain is a country of immigrants" to be "a "bull**** argument". I said using immigration during the dark ages, like vikings and such, to use as an argument to stop people questioning immigration today is wrong. The argument is not about immigration per sa, it is about the numbers of people coming here, whether we need and can accommodate them. A single person claiming asylum gets Ł35.00 per week allowance, plus accommodation and other benefit entitlements depending on their circumstances. You are wrong as some asylum seekers can claim more benefits depending how much they have contributed to the system. Last edited by AndyJK; 29-04-2010 at 05:41 PM. |
