Anyway, haven't seen the footage so won't be commenting on this alleged snap just yet. Still though, I make a point to mention I'm Irish when I'm abroad but it's usually not necessary cuz of the head on me!

You would find many people in Ireland who would get offended when someone says that. Me personally, don't care if people ask it or assume it.

I mean, I don't think she reacted right. He only asked her a question. Seemed like she jumped down his throat... But we'll see tonight how she said it. (If they show it)

It's understandable I think, a lot of people get annoyed when people mistake where they come from, especially if they are proud of their roots.

I get annoyed when Americans think everyone in England must live in London for example, I know that's a daft example and nothing compared to the British/Irish thing but it still annoys me, I hate London....doesn't mean all Irish hate the English though! She just corrected him, maybe in a slightly snappy way but I think the OP is making a mountain out of a molehill tbh.

I was just stating that i thought she snapped at him which she did

Im not the one going overboard here.

Im welsh and people allways think im from newcastle which can get quite annoying but i wouldnt snap at someone or jump down someones throat for mistaking my accent. Especially when they are from the other side of the world.

It's like Canadians hating being mistaken for American, New Zealanders hating being mistaken for Aussie's and there's a whole lot of history and bad blood between the British and Irish, maybe she has stories from her background that none of us know. It was one comment on the first night, cut her some slack I say!

She didnt say there was anything wrong with the british though! She just said she's not british because ROI is a country in it's own right, which is totally correct and okay for her to say. Okay she may have snapped a little bit but like I said before maybe she has a back story (like a lot of Irish do) that we dont know about, I think you really need to let it go tbh. You're the one coming across as xenophobic now and not her! She's proud to be Irish and you're proud to be British, end of!
