To see such a waste of food is disgraceful, as well as wrong on many levels.

As long as you said the same about Harry & the 500 Bananas you have a great point. Else...... Oh Deary me

I don't believe he ordered the bananas with the intention of them being destroyed, stamped upon.

and yes, in respect of that same scenario: I felt exactly the same when Jay threw the coffee, teabags, sugar etc all into the bins. Exactly the same.

Do you think Harry & Aaron believed they would all get eaten before they went off?

No he ordered them without a seconds thought as to how they'd be eaten when they rot so quickly when stored correctly let alone dumped on a floor piled up on each other in a room and building with varying heat etc.

That IMO was just as wasteful and irresponsible.

I think the thing that surprised me most was the fact only Aaron found it as bad as I would have of all those in the house, had they been throwing around and destroying cigarettes there would be hell to pay from the smokers.

Objects, toys are different, pillow fights etc too, even perhaps one box of cereal but to have ruined so many is pathetic and their punishment should have been, that I would have given them anyway, no task for a shopping budget this week and only a basic shopping budget given since they seem to have food to throw around.

It's not fun, in this day and time with food prices soaring and people in need here and abroad, it is plainly wrong.
It's just frosties.

And you could say the same thing for Harry ordering excessive amounts of bananas and frosties in the first place that clearly weren't all going to be eaten.

Well they certainly weren't going to be eaten with Jay stamping all over them and destroying them, were they.

There is a difference between wanton waste and deliberate destruction of foodstuff.

'If' it's not going to be eaten, then BB should donate it to the homeless or needy then. Not allow it to be ruined.

And what is your stance on Lord Harry ordering 500 bananas that would not have been eaten and would have rot in a short space of time. Pray tell?

I have already addressed that point in detail earlier in the thread actually.Stored properly they would have lasted over a week easily.

But the large amount ordered meant they couldn't be stored properly they were piled on top of each other squashing the ones underneathe.
It was a cocky ill thought out point begging plan comitted by dumb Harry and resulted in huge amounts of fruit going to waste.

So if you are willing to cover for that behaviour it says it all for me really.

I am not covering up for anyone,I said Harry went over the top with 500 bananas, the point I made when I addressed the bananas issue was that you also could do a lot of things with bananas other than just eat them as they are.

The housemates are not just to blame for food going off or being wasted however, as I said to much derision again on here.
However, perhaps if BB didn't throw so many extra meals such as takeaways and drink at them then maybe with 12 housemates far more of those bananas would not have been wasted.

Not covering up at all. I do blame .yes, BB too for the wasted food,I've seen BBs in the past where they had to live on basic budgets for 2 and 3 weeks in a row, wiht very little in the way of takeaways or other speacial treats those weeks, these seem to get something every other night in addition to their shopping budgets.

When people are not made to respect the food they have then that is when real waste begins.

Bananas by the way are in protective skins, being on a floor in a clean stroeroom and stored correctly they would last a week easily anyway. Obviously Jay deliberately stamping on them would have destroyed a fair few of them but that says all about him and nothing about the others who didn't. really.

That's my view. You clearly see no wrong in housemates on BB wasting foodstuffs, I do very strongly, that's the difference between you and I on this then.

I can't believe this conversation is actually being had.

I seriously can't take you seriously if you think they were in the wrong for having a food fight on a TV show like Big Brother

Don't contribute to it then - no one is forcing you.

If you cannot see what is wrong with having a food fight - you've clearly never experienced real hunger, or given two hoots for anyone who has.

I'm asking you again, because I'm not asking you if it's fun, harmless or not - I am asking you if you think it is right that perfectly good food should be wasted in this way.

I can only presume that you do think it's right.

oh I didnt realise the Big Brother scraps were sent off to starving people c,mon ...really? Thats the most irrelevant thing ive read in this thread so far...

Its Big Brother for goodness sakes a positive is that the company that makes frosted flakes are probably delighted to see their product all over the TV (and the floor)
