umm, no, my suggestion was exactly what i SAID, that you should spend less time worrying about movies, and more time worrying about actual sicko's that kill and rape.

i'm pretty sure that no one was actually killed or raped in the making of these films, so why are you worrying about the films instead of the real thing?

There will always be people that commit atrocious acts, as there have been throughout history. I'm sure jack the ripper wasn't playing "horsecarriage theft auto", before deciding to go on a prostitute killing spree.

Im aware of that, however its not just my view and im not saying im right but I still feel it could be a contributory factor.

i'm not getting personal, i;m just saying, it's freaky that you have such a monster post count, when it seems like just yesterday you were introducing yourself to the forum. It's a bit imposing. You certainly have taken the bull by the horns...

Imposing? im not imposing im a pussy cat I like to get my point across, it is easy for opinions to be misconstrued so its best to be direct.

i dont agree that these films 'inspire' people to do stuff like that at all

thats the same as saying people that play violent video games are likely to go out on a killing spree

like i said though i think a serbian film was a new low and i dont see how they could top that tbh but no doubt somebody will try

having said that i did find some bits of ASF hilarious like when he stuck his erection into that guys eye socket to kill him

The whole idea that a film or a game can influence a person to commit violent acts is just a scare tactic that politicians use to score votes. I personally detest anyone who gives those ideas weight since it turns films/games into a scapegoat. 'It's not Jimmy's fault he stole a car, he saw it on GTA first.' It does nothing but take away responsibility from the wrongdoer.

If someone goes out to commit a violent act, it's their choice to do so. Games and films can't influence or force anyone to do anything they don't want to do.

I think it can be a factor, if the person isolates themselves from the real world and the games or films become almost a reality for them. If that happens with kids/teens, then that is ultimately the parents fault imo

If people are going to go out and commit heinous crimes then the potential for them to do so existed within them long before they played Call of Duty.

It's a point I'm not going to budge on, I just think by even entertaining the idea we're vindicating criminals. Blaming games and films is an excellent way of avoiding the problem at hand.

No, I do agree with you, I think certain games or films can give people ideas on how to do some things but I think that these people would have committed crimes anyway.

I agree 100%

It always seems to be the fault of someone else though whenever something bad happens so if video games etc werent getting the blame it would be something/someone else. Its never the fault of the person actually committing the crime.

Actually I think this was from scream...films dont create murderers, they just make murderers more creative...I do think theres an element of truth to that. Though the people who do things would do it whether they play games/watch films/whatever anyways.

Yes, this is what I was trying to say earlier but not as clearly

Well done, you've avoided the crux of my post to focus on two words. Excellent work.

Thanks, but if you have already decided to detest anyone who supports that view there did not seem to be any point discussing it.
Im not suggesting for a second that it should be a bleeding heart 'little johnnie was Made to do it by a film' excuse for theft/violence.

Kizzy, if you offer forthright views (as you do), and you stand by them (which you rightly do), then you have to back them up sometimes, as we all do (trust me, I know).

Maybe you could stop rushing to be continually offended by any criticism, and continue the discussions? This isn't a personal attack, it's advice from someone who also has forthright views and puts them out there.

Well for example, I think Dezzy was simply using a turn of phrase that she didn't mean exactly as it was written down, and you did sort of just reduce her argument down and end all discussion.

*Although, I don't know Dezzy (and have never had a conversation with her), and she may well have meant that she literally "detests" those people, but I somehow doubt it.

* No Dezzys or Kizzys were harmed in the writing of this post.
