I think she is their chosen one... Await for more scenarios/tasks to show her in a good light...

Also the average BB viewer is a chavvy dole bum, so they will somehow look up & admire her & thus vote for her...

Dee didn't exactly ask to be portrayed as she was on Benefits Street, and certainly didn't realize that's what Channel 4 were going to do. Just because she's on benefits doesn't mean she's a bad person. What about the people on benefits who truly are struggling and need it? She was most likely one of them who was struggling, and wasn't one of those people who claim thousands of pounds in benefits every year just so their kids can have iPhones, PS4's and the best branded clothes.

She had a good and respectful job at Birmingham City Council and was sacked, and was unable to find anymore work. Really, Benefits Street has helped her and since the show has come off benefits and is now working in the media thanks to the attention she's being given. Good on her.

The Monarchy mean nothing nowadays compared to what they used to be.
yes, she did have a good job with the council until they sacked her. oh yes, you forgot to mention that they sacked her for stealing thoudands of pounds from them. she should have gone to prison. she is a convicted criminal, a thief. as for working in the media! is that what you call it. she does not know the meaning of the word work.

I don't know the story - but how did she become a convicted thief if it was never proven?

Or was she not convicted?

I don't like people not prepared to work for a living, but don't that much about her. All I know is that on the show she has come across as very likeable. She is friendly, caring and clearly intelligent. She is quick witted and able to adllib when put on the spot. There is more to a person's worth than their background.

A poor, caring, intelligent person is of more value in my book to an unintelligent, less caring better-off one who spends their time watching the likes of Towie and Geordie Shore.

I dont think she was committed because i havent heard any suggestions that she has. Also i dont really talk about things i dont know much about because thats just basically spreading rumours all i know is that she was sacked for apparently stealing money to fund her boyfreinds drug habit but i cant say whether its true or not as i wasnt there

found guilty by birmingham crown court of stealing £13,000. some of this money belonged to vunerable people. she was given an 8 month jail sentence suspended for 18 months, and ordered to do 220 hours unpaid work. case proved. would be interesting to find out, if she ever completed her 220 hours.

found guilty of stealing £13,000 from her employer birmingham city council. this money also included money belonging to vunerable people, who handed it in for safe keeping (what a joke). she received an 8 month jail sentence at birmingham crown court. this was suspended for 18 months, and she was ordered to do 220 hours unpaid work. would be interesting to know if she completed her 220 hours work.

I never watched Benefits Street but based on what I had read in the papers, I thought I would dislike her but she has won me round, she seems like a nice, caring, fun person and is one of my favourites.

bit silly to presume that people complaining are probably not tax payers. the fact that dee is a convicted criminal is nothing to do with people being snobbish. she was found guilty by Birmingham crown court of stealing £13,000 from her employers, Birmingham city council. some of this money belonged to vulnerable people who had placed it in the care of the local authority. she was given an 8 month prison sentence, this was suspended for 18 months and she was ordered to do 220 hours of unpaid work. (wonder if she ever did it). your right, there is more to a persons worth than their background, in dee's case her background increased her worth by £13,000 of other peoples money, obtained by stealing. your last paragraph makes no sense whatsoever. what would you feel if those people that you are critical of, thought that people who watched big brother were how you have described towie and Geordie shore watchers. rich or poor, caring or less caring, clever or not, is not determined by what tv programme a person chooses to watch, just saying.

Meh, right now I could deal with that. She seems lovely. I never watched Benfits street and was expecting a Jade Goody type if I'm honest, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

so true. Helen was a prostitute, not a crime. apart from living on benefits, dee is a convicted criminal. she was convicted of stealing £13,000 from her employers. some of this money belonged to vulnerable people who had placed their money in the care of the local authority. dee was given an 8 month prison sentence. this was suspended for 18 months, and she was ordered to do 220 hours unpaid work (wonder if she ever completed this)

If we're going to eliminate people based on their criminal rap sheet - this celebrity house would be barren.

Do you honestly think that Helen was paying taxes on her "immoral earnings"? Dee has paid her debt to society and deserves another chance. For those who didn't watch Benefits Street she was extremely kind and caring looking after others who were more vulnerable than herself - exactly as she has been in the house. I hope she wins.
