Who, Douglas?
|
1] Micronesia [16]
2] Heroes v Villans [20] 3] Cagayan [28] 4] Blood vs Water [27] 5] Gabon [17] 6] Philipinnes [25] 7] China [15] 8] Pearl Islands [7] 9] Caramoan [26] 10] Gamechangers [34] -- It had a lot of great moments, and I liked a lot of the cast -- The end half of the game was very rushed, was great until Sierra's boot and then the editing got super messy - Still an amazing pre merge with great tribal councils, Sandra was an interesting character -- The only invisible edits were Caleb and Troyzan - although Aubry was a little underedited but still had moments [Wouldn't count Ciera as never include first boots, although she had no impact.] 11] Samoa [19] 12] San Juan del Sur [29] 13] Kaoh Rong [32] 14] Cook Islands [13] 15] Redemption Island [22] 16] Nicargua [21] 17] Panama [12] 18] One World [24] 19] World’s Apart [30] 20] Cambodia [31] 21] Tocantins [18] 22] Fiji [14] Seasons not seen; 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11, 23, 33 I plan on eventually watching seasons 23 and 33.

Of the ones that I've seen I really enjoyed Pearl Islands, China, and Panama.
I voted for Pearl Islands on the poll though.

Plus a few small changes, including Game Changers lowered a few spots in hindsight.

That's better than I thought but I remember liking it a lot. Honestly only change I'd make off the top of my head is China #5 & SJDS #6And for some reason the new seasons are a blur for me right now so I won't bother adding them in. Maybe in the future

I'd go with a bunch of those too. Cagayan is a must-watch but watch those listed first instead --- then save the best for last.
Also, Millennials vs. Gen X is a top 10 season of Survivor.

The year wasn't very big on gameplayers, and the ones they did have were dull, and the entertainers had no game and left pretty early making the year even duller with a winner that I can't even remember her name that's how entertaining she was. Basically Survivor ****ed up on it's concept in that year imo as none of the contestants combined entertainment with an attempt at strategy.

Idk if I necessarily agree but it is true for some.... Neal definitely. Aubry maybe fits close to that, although she has some entertaining aspects to her.. but for sure very game oriented. Liz was all game but it was kinda entertaining to watch her "game." Anna/Julia I guess I agree with?
And I still don't know what Joe was supposed to be aside from a Sunday. Anyway, I thought Kaoh Rong was really good though. I just think it's foolish to bash a season (MvGx) for character flaws when you can pick apart most casts if you really tried. Any argument against Kaoh Rong characters being one-dimensional could easily be done with the MvGx cast but yes if you just think generally they can be viewed as "one-dimensional" or underdeveloped characters. I think MvGx just had a strong focus on cast members that people around here didn't care for and that's where the difference lies.

Oh and I don't mean it's foolish because character development shouldn't be bashed... it can definitely hurt a season... but I just think that the MvGx character development was comparable to plenty of good seasons' casts and had the moments / flips / etc. to make it a great season.

-Aubry had some of the most memorable confessionals of the season (see: Oregon Trail), had a full nervous breakdown on day two plus a resulting character growth arc and a fully-realised, well-edited storyline (underestimated outsider loses her close allies through an almost comical series of events and bad luck, eventually overcomes these hurdles to become a strategic threat, before losing it all because she wasn't able to connect with the jury, having sacrificed personal connections for aforementioned strategic gain)
-I agree with you on Liz, who was a rare example of being entertaining because she was such a bot, to the extent of malfunctioning and having a meltdown over water <3 -Anna was the other person who I'd say seemed "all game" to me, but for a Survivor early boot, that's not unusual - especially when compared to characters who managed to be entertaining despite only lasting a few episodes, like Darnell, Jenny and Alecia - and at least she had the brief carrying-out-confessionals-by-lying-horizontally-on-rocks-with-her-boobs-hanging-out edit to be remembered by. But hey, every reason needs a duffer slash awful Twitter personality, right? -Joe was, in spite of his very minimal screen time, unintentionally hilarious and loveable and what you'd get if Abe Simpson were ever to play Survivor: importantly, he was a character, and that's what was missing from so much of MvGX. Screen time isn't necessarily the problem; it's what the editors choose to show in that screen time. On one hand, Darnell will be remembered for pooping in the ocean, Jenny will be remembered for the bug in her ear and going insane at Tribal, Alecia will be remembered for making an embyro and being a mental giant and the list goes on... on the other, who was Rachel? Who was Lucy? Who was CeCe? Who was Sunday? Heck, who was Chris? Who was Mari other than the millennial who plays video games and plays video games because she's a millennial? -And perhaps even more importantly, the edit made sense in Kaoh Rong. The managed to tell a coherent story with an interesting set of people, which is something that's been hugely lacking in MvGX and Game Changers, and if you back a little further, Cambodia. Kaoh Rong may not be 100% perfect, but considering what it managed to achieve in spite of the current trend of diabolical editing, ludicrous advantage overloads and focus on Big Moves while sacrificing character moments, it's not far off. |

But M vs Gen X had CeCe, Lucy, Chris, Will, Sunday, Jessica Bland etc. All forgettable because they weren't given an edit.

The best thing about CeCe was her appalling performances in the tasks.

afaik that was the only thing about CeCe (wasn't she the one who moved halfway across the country just to have a better chance of being cast on Survivor? A fact which was never even mentioned?)
