Hopefully the people doing that will get bored of it after a while. It is a system to reward people and not big up your mates.

If that keeps happening people could have their voting rights taken away or the system removed.

I hope it will be right and something constructive.
I have to agree with you there Remy, it like some people consider post count to do this too or how long a member has been on the site.

For me none of this matters. Its the posts that people make that does.

I really hope it doesnt end up like a popularity contest.
I'm not against the concept, and I do agree with you, at the end of the day, if the rules and the consideration about it are not clear, it will become a popularity contest ! And it will be the beginning of the end, I don't want a war here. We had too many conflicts, so now people have to understand what does that mean and don't abuse it.

I for one will give them out to people I feel have made good posts

I think its a good idea and it will take a bit of getting use to and understanding but I feel it will end up being abused and cause conflict and right at the start of bb won't be helpful. Its interesting, new and fresh just hope it stays that way.

If people are voting their friends, or someone has more than others, I wouldn't worry. As Red said, some people will find it boring, and just forget about it. Isn't Karma meant to be a bad thing anyway? LOL

I really hope people don't abuse it, but to be honest I don't think they will as admin/mods are aware of who's doing what, and can therefore remove privileges accordingly. For me, I find it a good idea because sometimes I do read a post and think, 'That made a lot of sense' but unfortunately can't do much more apart from say, 'I agree'.

EDIT: Thanks to those of you who gave me karma votes.

Ahh, thanks.

I always thought it was do something bad, and something bad will happen to you? So in a way it could mean both?

Only the bad Karma. I witness it all the time.

I don't believe in the good Karma for personal reasons.

Some of us will remember Glen Hoddle, the ex England football coach who was fired for expressing his views on Karma. In his case, I believe he said something like, being born handicapped was like a punishment for a bad deed committed in a previous life. I don't buy into that at all, but in terms of the saying `what goes around comes around` that does have an air of truth to it but only in this life or indeed on this forum. I think it would be good Idea for admin to clarify and give more examples of how it should be used.
After the first couple of days I reckon we would tend to forget about the karma click until we read something that suddenly inspires us to vote. The negative button is the problem area as it is vital that everyone understands that a difference of opinion is nothing to do with negative karma.

X Factor and Next Top Model were open to ANYONE. Loads of people who werent excellent singers did X Factor, and NTM was fun and people did funny novelty photos. I recall Tanser saying he wanted to be a Page 3 Model lmao

I wouldnt worry about it too much - we understand that people will be inclined to give Karma to the people they get on most with, thats just a fact of life, why wouldnt they? as long as it does no turn into a competition I dont see any major problems with it!

I think it is a great idea along with the awards to let people show others that they appreciate each other, I really think the plus Karma will be used a lot more than the minus one to be honest!!

In Hindu belief where the term originated, it is the idea that the good and evil a person does will return either in this life or in a later one. Among Pagans, the theory is that whatever negative or positive energies one sends out will come back to the sender in like kind. The “Three Fold Law” is a version of this belief.
