Yeah, be vegetarian/vegan out of choice, health or for the environment but when people try to guilt or shame meat eaters because of, as you say, sentimental reasons it becomes rather silly IMO.

I know that you know what I’m saying deep down so I’m not even going there.

You’re allowed your lifestyle but you should have as much respect for carnivores as you expect them to have for you. That’s the crux of it.

I really have no clue what you're saying, so be frank or don't bring it up at all. I don't think you understand how annoying it is trying to engage in a discussion over the internet, with someone who constantly expects you to read between the lines.

Show me where I disrespected anyone for eating meat?

“oop forgot the circle of life involved being locked up in a disgusting warehouse until you're fat enough to kill.

or being dragged away from your mother and sold off for veil because they need her milk for their frosted flakes.”

What other inference can anyone draw from that than you having a go at meat eaters? Or was that not supposed to be taken literally?

I was having a go at the implication that factory farming is at all natural or part of the cirle of life. If you took that as me comming for meat eatsrs then thats your problem because I didn't say anything about people who eat meat. My comments were on the industries that produces meat.

I was being tongue-in-cheek about it being funny that a black guy would openly hate on chicken even if your individual country/community doesn’t dig chicken like that. It just sounds funny.

..I have to say Redway that I sadly often find it the opposite of what you say is your experiences...?...and we can only go by our own personal experiences...I don’t eat meat myself and haven’t for many years..everyone knows I don’t and yet occasionally...(..and it is only occasionally and in a lighthearted way I will say..)...I’m still asked...why don’t you eat meat, how could you not want to eat bacon or try a steak or whatever...just similar things to that...it’s not something I find tedious or annoying in any way because it’s not that often that it happens...but just why, really...why ask, why question, why comment...why not just accept as it has no bearing on what anyone else has chosen in their lifestyle...?...so it doesn’t always feel that you are ‘allowed’ your lifestyle and food choices, without being questioned and then questioned again...and still not understood or accepted...?...so I can see for some people how that would provoke a defensiveness, which can lead to this type of discussion being a little ‘heated’...

...and here in the old 2018 with so many people choosing a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle..?...there is still not a great variety of options available in restaurants...the vegetarian and vegan choices are quite limited in comparison to meat eating choices, does that show an equal respect..?...and in some cases the choices are all quite ‘samey’ and uninventive...I went somewhere quite recently and there was a huge choice on the main menu...but for me..?...the only choice really was pasta..and I’m not hugely fond of pasta...so I don’t feel that vegetarianism or veganism is always respected or catered for that much to be honest...I mean I totally respect that people eat meat and always will but more and more people are choosing not to and it has to be a two way thing...there is a lot more choice than there used to be and it is becoming less questioned or commented on...but there is still a way to go for me, considering it’s 2018 and there shouldn’t be a way to go ...yeah vegetarianism and veganism should be allowed their lifestyle...they should be allowed their lifestyle without comment or jokes or whatever but sadly that allowance sometimes isn’t there and carries on persisting in making jibes etc...

Of course the milking industry is unethical really. I don't know too much about it but I presume that the cows have to be pregnant near constantly..as I would think thats the only way they would keep producing milk? IDK. I don't really think about all of this that much. But in these kinds of arguments usually it comes up that if we had to kill our own animals we would not eat meat. I must be rare in that because I wouldn't have an issue with that and really, the meat would be MUCH tastier if completely fresh.

I would rather the animals have a decent life, but I am not going to pretend that I stress and that over it all. Meat tastes nice, I am addicted to tea so I need milk also, and I don't feel guilty about it

Exactly. That's reality and you accept that. People pretending it's all rosie and nice is either disingenuous or ignorant is all I'm saying.

I feel like religious conversion would be easier than arguing with most anyone who is a vegetarian/vegan...

i respect other reasons like health for example but i genuinely think people have a staggering misunderstanding of agriculture sometimes.

cattle do generally remain outdoors much of the time as it is better for their health which is obviously in farmers' interest, and cows in agriculture also get medically treated to the highest of standards where necessary.

there isn't a situation where cows roam free on the own. modern cattle would literally die in the wild without agriculture.

I had my physical done recently and for the first time they asked me if I was a practicing vegan or vegetarian. I was like "No". So my nurse was like "Oh, good". Me and the husband were like "hmmmm".

I don't think I've ever been asked in regular life that much, but I know some who do practice it. None of them try to force it, but they try to say "Hey you know, we can get by fine so you probably can..."... but I know better than to try to counter-argue, because people are quite passionate about that lifestyle so...

Stubbornness can be either be a really great quality or bad one in a person... it just depends on how they handle that. I tend to think of it is a positive.

So in that recent tv series Sugar-Free Diet ..

They had a group of volunteers who were given a healthy diet which for two weeks excluded ALL sugar even naturally found sugar ( in fruit etc ) .. they added naturally found sugar foods after a fortnight but exclude processed sugar totally ...

Anyways from day ONE ... one of their options as part of the 'healthy' diet was a bacon /sausage fry up in LARD each morning ..

!?!?!????!

Because sugar is much (much, much) worse for you than fat. The idea that "fat makes you fat" is outdated by several decades.

I agree ...

I've always used LARD to fry things .. as a kid my mum used to cook chips in lard as well ..

My point was they were promoting eating bacon / sausages for breakfast each day ..

Quite. Infact the fastest (and some say healthiest too) way to lose weight is actually with a HIGH fat diet. High fat, low carb.

I hate vegans.

My cousin is vegan so when I know she's at my nannas I make me and my nanna a ham sandwhich and eat it slowly in front of her. I even tried to force some left over beef from my nannas sunday dinner down her throat before but my nanna went crazy because she started crying

I rarely eat meat, mostly eat vegetarian but there are some meals that need a bit of meat like chicken curry, and no one is guilt tripping me into giving that up
