Nobody is angry...

Nor is anyone lusting over Jojo. Your suggestion of both, TS, is pathetic and narrow minded.

OK then the same frustrated and defensive older chaps come out of the woodwork to defend age gaps every time I mention them as a negative. Is that more accurate to say? I mean it's fine for you all to share that your opinion is that there's nothing wrong with it but that doesn't seem to be enough - it seems like it's a problem for me to not change my opinion that it's gross/dirty/pervy/noncey. live and let live surely.

We ain't in serious debates .
I’m not watching this series and not interested in it or you

Face facts you don’t get to play the father figure in deciding what young adults choose to do

Trying to dismiss young females as immature because you don’t agree with them

And try to paint men that don’t agree with you as angry pervs is pathetic

I'm not trying to dictate young people's choices, I'm not judging young people at all, 21 is literally immature (male or female, that part is irrelevant; my opinion would be the same if it was Joey the 21 year old lad being lovebombed by Christine the 32 year old woman) but I have no issue with the young people in this scenario.

I have an issue with the 30+ year olds who I would prefer to have the moral fortitude to know better.

And I have an issue with people being so desperate to defend it.

Like I said by all means disagree with me, but don't tell me that my opinion can't be my opinion. It's gross. It's pervy.

I will be somewhat interested to see if they carry this (whatever this is) on on the outside. I wouldn't have thought so though, they literally live in 2 different worlds. Whatever you think of it though, one thing is for absolute certain, nobody in their wildest dreams predicted their "friendship"

…just a by the by and not connected but I don’t know if you watched Chris’ Love Island season….but the interest in his bromance with Kem was a huge focus of the show and maybe even took on a more interesting aspect than the romantic partnership which he had, it created huge popularity for both him and Kem with the public…obviously they even did TV work together afterwards as a partnership as well…

My husband & I are a month apart, but I regard significant differences in marriage as pretty normal. I would say 10 years is a high average here. It most depends on when the partners met, I think. If they meet their partner while younger, it's more likely it'll be closer in age gap. Sometimes dating someone in a different generation makes sense when life becomes slower and a mature relationship is really decided. Some don't want to be married to a peer where everyone is still in the state of mind of figuring everything out. They just want a proper partner without that being the focus. Sometimes a matching of maturity levels is more natural across an age gap. My peer group up until maybe 5-6 years ago maybe were still single, some living at home and definitely not settling down. We had left home at 20 by comparison to our peers and we weren't emulating that process. It was financially difficult, but we were fully independent. If what was available amongst my peers were my options when looking to settle, I would opt older for sure. For me marriage is based around having a strong respect level and loving the other for being their unique person and age is just one small factor in that. I do not want to compete with a partner, which I feel some did in my generation at a much younger age.

Anyway back to Chris & Jojo, I don't care about their age differences. Chris is pure cringe on his own so much that without even having known what his age ever was, I never tied his behavior with it...

Americans are not really closed-minded about age gaps on average, but I can see some areas of the US being more sensitive culturally. It's just it's not at all a common concern or common debate that I've seen... so that's all I can add to that, I think.

To clarify, it's not the age gap it's the age of the younger person. There would be no issue if she was 31 and he was 42 which is the same age gap. It's the fact that she was still in school a couple of years ago. 21 is too young for a bloke in his 30's. That is my opinion and it ain't changing, no matter how many people insist it's fine.

Hell would not be great with Trump because you'd have to listen to one of his rallies non-stop while all the demons clamored for more. Can't imagine much worse than being stuck in a US election campaign season for all eternity.

What the actual fck

No one wants or needs your approval on this or any other opinion you may hold

Do you actually think people care what you think and are desperate to change your mind

Reality check
You are just some bloke in Scotland who used to work in a betting shop
The end.

Being stuck in a UK Election campaign season for all eternity could push it close tbh.

Tbf, he didn't personally know her back then.

Like the Phillip Schofield stuff for example, where he knew the kid from 11 years old. Obviously there's no evidence to suggest anything even worse, like some of Schofield's haters want to believe.

To be fair I'm not saying he's a paedo or anything like that or even that he shouldn't find her physically attractive, as you say it's not "that sort of" age gap, she's not a literal teenager and he's not middle aged+, but I do think she's young enough (and he's old enough) that there's a problematic imbalance there and frankly I think it's actually quite an obvious one from everything we've seen of them. He's an emotional leech with her, monopolises her time, and she doesn't have the age/relationship experience to see it. And as I keep saying I think he knows exactly what he's doing.

Coming slightly back on the topic of the thread, I have no idea what she is, she could be faking all the 'chemistry' for airtime, and its something she and Chris have cooked up between them, but I know one thing its very difficult to keep up with the labels people love to put on themselves

Remember in the 90's/early noughties when everyone was trying to get rid of labels

Well I think that's the crux of it really, she's keen to over-label when ultimately none of it really means anything and it's rare that anyone fully fits into any one specific category.

Plus

... She's young and he's love-bombing her (see it is relevant!) which will only add to the confusion.

Yes she's in some way infatuated with him (romantic or not only she entirely know, I guess, but it's in some way that doesn't seem like just a good friendship) but that's because like I said this is a guy (the Love Island type) who knows what he's doing/has poured attention on her/constantly telli g her how special she is and how special their relationship is. It's how the vast majority of codependent relationships begin. But he'll drop her for some other "special person" as soon as one crosses his path.

This is part of what I mean about the age thing, this sort of tactic is going to be very ineffective on women his own age who will see right through him, but Jojo is a very wholesome character. I wouldn't even call her naive. She just thinks he's a nicer guy than (I believe) he is because she's not encountered this sort of "seduction technique".

Seriously watch a season of Love Island and you'll see 10 Chris's all doing a variation of this exact "relationship".

I think his brother on the side show thing saying "He is genuine he has loads of friendships like this" is actually very telling. If he has "loads" of "super special" relationships, then NONE of them are special.
