The last thing one would want to do after someone was just shot dead for expressing their free speech is to try to crack down on the rights of others to defend themselves in the rest of the country. That would go very poorly and we would find out actually it is in fact much harder to ban guns than it would be knives in the US because the political blow back would be immediate.

…it’s an horrific taking of a life …looking back a few moments ago at some vid of him just before this violent shooting, just chatting with those around him and preparing for the event etc…and obviously not realising that those would be the final moments of his life…heartbreaking/shocking …and his loved ones will replay and relive those moments with him again and again…just a senseless/mindless taking of a life….

Yes, I think this hits more personally for some. Trump has more enemies, sure, but he also enjoys more privileges and protections than the average. So do most elected officials.
