Disgusting, thats what ready meals are. There is nothing *fresh* about it...
Like Tom said you could buy pasta etc and make much more food than the price of this ready meal.

Pasta 19p, pasta sauce 49p.. Not really "fresh" tho is it... Need more than £1 to have a fresh healthy meal.

They ok if you only have 9p left, lol. They come in beef, sween n sour, curry etc.. Not bad for 9p!!! Lol.
You could mix it with bits of ham and grate cheese over the top... Ham slices £1, small block of cheese £1, noodles 9p... £2.09.

Tesco sell 5 microwave meals for £4... Ok more that a £1 but still great value if on a tight budget.. Nothing wrong with them but not healthy if eaten everyday... Plus these days many supermarkets are doing great deals on fresh foods to pull in the customers.. Can't beat good old homemade food tho.

Many supermarkets sell frozen pizzas for around £1, but best pizzas to buy from a shop are non-frozen.. Or just make your owen with a fresh healthy topping but will cost more than a £1 due to the toppings, cheese, stuff to make the dough, stuff for the sauce to make it nice, herbs etc.. So at times it is worth buying a non-frozen italian thin crust pizza for around £3.50..

Some Tescos and ASDA's have a section where they make your Pizza's there and then fresh for you. They are gorgeous and you can watch them make it. They're around £3-4.

Try some Tesco Extra's.

i'm quite suprised at some things in this thread you can make good food that isnt a ping meal for around the same money but for more people it just takes some creative shopping plus if you bulk meals out with things like beans and so on you can stretch things further so you can freeze some for another time

For around £2.60 you can make a cheap spag bol... My spag bol costs alot more to make..
For £2.60..

Pasta 19p
Mince £1.25
Tin of toms 38p
Few mushrooms 39p
Small onion 39p

^thats the cheap spag bol.. Of course you could always splash few others in with whats in your kitchen like red wine, italian herbs, brown sauce etc... Even grate some cheese over the top..

Bloody Hell, Ben, that's insane

Home-made southern-fried-chicken is much better. I made it tonight

As for ready meals, I personally don't eat them. But I understand why people do; it's cheap and easy. But it's much more rewarding making food yourself.

Also, if you live in a family of 5 (me, mum, sister, brother & niece) - ready meals add up. So it's often cheaper to buy packets of rice, pasta, sauces...and cook that way.

On your own, though, I imagine, it's probably not so easy.
