I'm also sick of Evan being the male romantic lead. If he returns next season, I hope his story doesn't revolve around his love life yet again. I love Frances' characters because she's always so different each time, and always has a quirky / interesting role.

Yeah Jessica needs to be put in a purely good role. Evan would suit well as being an evil character too. I actually liked his character Jimmy this season, until the love stories started coming in. It's almost like the writers force themselves to write Evan in a love role. It was pretty unnecessary for Freakshow as Jimmy alone stands as an interesting character.

A lot of theories I've seen are based around Elsa Mars/Jupiter/Life on Mars stuff and it'll be space/alien themed. Like Area 51 or something.
I also would like to see what they'd do without Lange. It would be good if she could do a two episode guest spot as a character unlike others she's played. But part of me thinks they'll just hand over the Lange prototype to one of the other actresses so it won't be all that different. |

I know a lot of people already hate the ending to Freak Show but I thought it was perfect. It made me happy that it went full circle in the end. + Jessica's send off.

It was ok. But, again, no plot.
Just random events. It started well. I was gutted with Dandy's massacre. I wanted the tall lady to snap his neck. But that whole heaven thing at the end just felt tacked on. I'd like them to tell an actual story in season 5. |

Also, I can't tell you how happy I was that the show ended before she started to sing at the end.

This.
It started well, same as Coven and then it just went downhill after the clown died i think. they made the same mistake as with Coven, having bits and pieces of stories all over the place but not really running with one thing. The ending was awful, worse than Coven even. I doubt I'll watch the next Season

Someone on DS said there's a theory that Dot and Bette's child we saw them pregnant with is Constance Langdon from season 1.

RM's really trying to connect all of the seasons. I mean he had young Arden be the one to cut Elsa's legs off, so I wouldn't put this past him. Even though there isn't actually anything making me believe that it's Constance, other than the timelines maybe lining up.

I was really sad to see Amazon Eve die, she was one of the only freaks, besides seal boy and his girlfriend, that got some attention and that I cared about. I like Bette and Dot, and I was okay with the actual characters that lived, but Sarah Paulson's gonna have to die by the end of one of these seasons and the fact that it was Bassett, Paulson, and Peters, who survived was predictable.
I did really like the finale, as cheesy as it was, I thought it was kind of beautiful. Dandy's death scene was amazing. And where everything/everyone ended up made this one of the most satisfying AHS finales.

Oh I didn't spot the Arden connection.
I thought the only Asylum connection was Mary Eunice and Pepper. Last edited by Marsh.; 22-01-2015 at 06:22 PM. |

Yeah, I was pretty sure it was him, because they had James Cromwell's son playing him, but someone else actually spotted that the actor was credited as playing 'young Arden' in the end credits.

The guy that fixed Elsa's legs (played by Danny Huston, don't know his character name) said in the penultimate episode in his flashback something like "his name was Hans Gruper", which is Dr Arden's name. Plus it was Cromwell's son playing the role in the Freakshow flashback.
It's a nice link but I really don't like this whole forcing links between seasons thing. With bits like Pepper as a one off I don't mind but I hope this isn't the start of having links in every single season. |

Oh and Cromwell's son also played the young Dr Arden in Asylum. Just checked and it's the same guy as we saw in the Freakshow flashback so pretty much 100% confirmed as a link.

The guy Elsa was in love with in the finale? Was he the one who leaked her snuff movies?

The Arden connection was reaching a bit (on their part), and if the constance theory ended up being true
![]() Anyway, i quite liked the finale, it was nice for a change that they tied up all the loose strings, they didn't leave any unanswered questions, like previous seasons did. I really like Dandys spree, i thought amazon eve was gonna get him with the axe, when she died i was gutted. Overall though the season has been pretty poor, it took so long for anything to happen, that when it did happen it was predictable as hell. I'm hoping with Jessica's departure as a lead from the show that it gets an overhaul with a fresh concept

I thought it was okay, the season as a whole is an improvement over Coven but it's still piss poor in comparison to the first two seasons. AHS needs a complete reboot as it's just becoming so repetitive, there's no point in a new setting and new characters if Evan Peters and Jessica Lange are just going to play the same characters each season. They need to get new writers in and really mix it up next series and Ryan Murphy needs to go. He's ****ing terrible.

Yeah they really need to sort the show out for season 5. I liked Freakshow in parts and liked the characters although it was just 13 episodes of random events, with no story going on throughout.
One thing they need to do for season 5 is cut the cast in half. The main problem that started with Coven and became too much in Freakshow has been the larger casts. Cut it out, have a smaller cast, characters we can get to know on a deeper level and a story with a meaning. I know the show has grown to have a great cast of people but really they need to just ditch a load of them, maybe work some of the cast on a 'every two seasons' cycle. Keep the regulars that have stayed since season one and rotate the others. Freakshow has improved in some places though and we did get more horror in this than we did Coven. I just hope they do a complete revamp and make it great for the next season, otherwise I cannot see this show holding its viewers and fanbase if season 5 is a mess again. |

or on the edge of my seat.I think you're kind of right with the cast, it didn't help that the freaks they employed weren't actors, and that half of them had 0 lines or personality, so when they died (like the dwarf and the woman with no legs) it was hard to really care. I think they did it well with Asylum bc they had a pretty large cast with the recurring characters but you still had feelings about them one way or another

I wouldn't say the size of the cast is a problem, they just need to centralise the plot and the characters and not have them all be disparate to each other. The writers have shown that, even in Asylum, they can't handle multiple plotlines effectively so they just need to focus on one thing.
MH was great because it all revolved around the house and all the characters and the sideplots all had a purpose in relation to that. Freakshow suffered because there wasn't a central plotline and Coven was terrible because they kept changing the central plot every few episodes. Freakshow would have been great if they only did around 6-8 episodes and focused on the threat of Dandy and Twisty to the Freakshow because as soon as they offed Twisty the series lost it's direction and everything became diluted and bland. |
