I've been reading about the SNP's selection process. It was even more chaotic than UKIP's. Makes me wonder how well these SNP MPs are going to do. It'll be interesting...

and that aside she's still a student with over a year left on her degree. I doubt she appreciates the reality of what being an MP will be like once this tide of nationalism off the back of the independence referendum subsides

It reminds me of the County election when UKIP took lots of Norfolk County Council seats and they were like... Oh sh*t.........

It didn't matter who the SNP fielded as candidates, that's not what it was about in Scotland. This is an historic political moment, the UK will never be the same again

perhaps we need to merge the tv thread into the election one and clean up the title?

She's 20. Even the oldest people on this thread can remember how half-cooked you are at 20, whether you think you're a great mind or not.

I think that's paying young people a great disservice..... most of the people in the commons are seriously overcooked!
I'm sure a percentage of the lords are dead but nobody has the heart to tell them.

The Conservatives won the election. Labour Lost it. If every SNP seat had gone to Labour they'd still have lost it.

I feared far more a govt; with the DUP as any part of it than one with the SNP. The SNP want fair policies for all, the DUP were one of the most divisive parties of the whole UK. However, you have said said something there that makes me think. If she is on the independence route again, and John Swinney, refused to say on TV today, that the SNP will 'not' have a independence referendum pledge in their manifesto for holyrood elections next year. Then with a Conservative govt; in place, she can start to complain and moan endlesly at just about all legislation they bring forward that affects Scotland. She is already arguing that the Scots have overwhelmingly voted for 'no austerity' and since she has got 56 out of 59 seats, this govt; will have to be very careful indeed what it now proposes for Scotland as to austerity. They will have to do it, otherwise not to do austerity in Scotland but in the rest of the UK, would cause this govt; near chaos. She was always going to win, whether there had been a Labour led govt; which she rightly or wrongly believed, she could maybe influence. Or in the case of a Conservative led coalition again a govt; she could endlessly disagree with. This govt; is ideal for her independence cause, far more than a minority govt; or coalition would have been. Ed Miliband was dead right to rule out all formal deals with the SNP and to chalk out a path of calling their bluff. Sadly that fell on deaf ears with the voters, who preferred again to follow the fear over hope agenda of the present govt: You made a really strong point Kizzy as to her loading guns for others to fire. The only thing I am pleased about is she has again cornered herself in as to dealing with this govt: Once they try to start again with austerity and particularly welfare cuts. She has said the Scots have given her a mandate against same,so will have to really cause a stink, should or when they try, to impose any such measures on Scotland now. A 12 overall majority could yet bring about more problems for this govt; than it will ever ease. |

50 odd seats isn't enough to block anything, the tories will thank Scotland by royally screwing them and Nicola will have to stand and watch with the rest of us.

She will have the right to demand a new referendum from this govt:. Which David Cameron would hate to have to preside over again, especially if it was brought about because he had chosen to ignore the election result in Scotland. He could still yet go down as the Prime Minister that disastrously presides over the break up of the UK, and also who sleepwalks the UK out of the EU too. Because I really believe an independence referendum would be easily won ,even now. |

I don't understand how she'd get even a proposal for a referendum through Joey?
