Apparently the character she's playing is an amalgamation of different Viking leaders, with a dollop of fictionalisation, but overall a deliberately fictional character with the same name.

Don't really know where to post this, but it's a genuine question, not some faux outrage that has no business annoying me. Anyway, was watching Beverly Hills Cop last night on TV, after the watershed, i've seen it quite a few times, and noticed they cut out Eddie Murphy saying the "N" word. I would understand if it was a non black person saying it (though i think Mexican's are ok to say it) but why would they cut out a black man saying it?

I watched dire straits on youtube the other week and an entire section has had the vocal removed on "Money for nothing". Some of the words may not be particularly good taste by todays standards, but im not a fan of re-writing history

Yeah it's a bit daft considering it was out in the 80's, which had totally different societal standards to 2023.

I think that it's a bad precedent for society to keep banning/editing/censoring works from decades gone by, because what's to stop future generations from being like (for example) that the Iron Man trilogy is offensive? I mean none of us know how the generation in 20 years time will feel about things, what if a beloved Movie franchise like the MCU was having all of their works edited due to being "offensive."

Definitely another horrible and backwards step for society with the Dire Straits song.
