But hard tackles are one thing, its part of the game but running round after someone biting is another. The guys an animal...he's already been banned for it once..that Shearer thing was pretty inexcusable (but then he did turn down the chance to play for United so tells me all I need to know)

Hard tackles? Is that what you call Keane's effort?

If I was a professional footballer, and I was offered the chance to have my career finished by a stamp to my knee, or someone nibbling on my arm. I'd take the nibble any day of the week.

What Suarez did wasn't great (to put it mildly), but all this revisionist crap about the stuff that happened before him is bollocks.

No doubt there are some nasty arse tackles in the game (Keane was one of the worst I agree) but it's the second time he's bitten someone and it wasn't a nibble, he could be breaking those nashers in for a horse. He got a 7 match ban last time so the punishment, IMO, should be increased. The intent on his face when he did it was plain for all to see and it's not acceptable.

Do you think he deserves a shorter or longer ban than Keane got for ending AIH's career?

I'm not defending Suarez's actions. I just think we lose our sh*t over ridiculous things at times. Take spitting, I'd rather someone spit at me than go 2-footed over the ball at me, but spitting is classed as a deadly sin in football terms.

Keane did not end his career, that's just a myth.....he played 4 days later. .

Still a bad tackle mind..

He had admitted it was the other knee that had a long standing injury that actually ended his career.

He played like 70mins just a few days later and then started again. Dunno if you knew that already, but just had to mention it as there is a myth that the tackle pretty much made him unable to kick a ball again, which just isn't true.

He also attributes it to the damage that Keane did on his other one that ultimately ended it. He was able to pay on his other knee previously, then all of a sudden he's finished?

So anyway, what incident would you rather be the victim of?

It's different though and not really comparable, every time you step on the pitch you're aware of the risks involved in a contact sport and that at any time someone could come in at you with a horror tackle and cause you injury, what you could never expect is for someone to suddenly start biting you on the arm

No one ever called for these players to be thrown out of the game.
Wait, what? I haven't seen anyone say that but if they have then they're total fools. With that said, the guy is a tw@t. He brings it all on himself. What he did yesterday is indefensible. As much as you want to stick up for players of the team you support. Sometimes you just have to say, 'That was wrong, I can't defend that'.

Edit: As Leon said, Keane never ended his career. Often thought by many that he did. He retired due to the other leg yet blames Keane. Clutching at straws somewhat. Eager to blame Keane. (Don't confuse this for being contradictory, I'm not defending what Keane did in any way.)

I agree to an extent, and I'm trying to walk the tightrope between not defending him and hoping he sticks around for a while longer yet. There are horror tackles, then there are premeditated attempts to snap a players leg. Nobody steps on to the field thinking that another player has a target to "do them". I don't get the moral difference between a pathetic and childish bite, and and an attempt to "do another player". I'm really not trying to defend Suarez here, as I think he needs a decent punishment, but a little perspective is always needed.

I've read a lot of things today saying Liverpool need to get rid of him, and that's my only point. No one said this about Keane, although to be fair, they did say it about Cantona after the palace fan incident.

Football is a game filled with blind loyalties and hypocrisy.

It is obvious they will blame Patrice Evra, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Gill and Wayne Rooney.
