A Prophet was brilliant, went to see it today. It could have been a little shorter as my attention was drifting in the last half an hour or so, but other than that it was great. I'm normally not a fan of French cinema, but this was different. It didn't have a pretentious feel to it that I associate with French cinema, it was more gritty and real - much like a British crime film.

The Princess and the Warrior
Pretty much every negative stereotype of a bad, uber-mannered Eurotrash thriller rolled into one with a cheesy German industrial dance soundtrack thrown. No surprise this is from the people who gave us Run Lola Run. I guess I could only recommend it if you really like this sort of thing and you're nostalgic about all things 1990's (this was released in 2000, but was already pretty dated at the time).

love that film, Johann.
for me I bought The Curious Case of Benjamin Button yesterday. Really powerful film. The montage at the end of the people in his life, and their roles, is beyond moving.

Sherlock Holmes at the cinema last night.
REALLY enjoyed it, some laugh out loud moments, Robert Downey Jr. is FANTASTIC in this role and Jude Law (although I don't usually like him) made a great Watson. Would recommend this film to anyone. Brilliant.

I also so Sherlock Holmes yesterday. I found it a bit drab tbh, I liked Rachel McAdam's character, Robert and Jude played good parts also but I thought for a Sherlock film, the mystery was so boring. The ending was fantastic though.

The Right Stuff. One of those films that I never go around to seeing. Glad I did now cuz it's a very entertaining flick with an all star cast.

Yeah, it wasn't the best. If you ignore the unfeasible plot and concentrate on the action, it's ok, but otherwise, it's really not.
I'm a huge Bourne fan so I set the bar high.

It was fairly brainless stuff though and your man Walhberg is a disaster as a leading man. Eh, which Bourne is your fav?

It's hard to pick one, but I'd say The Ultimatum might just pip the others. I think they have gotten better each time, which is unusual.. I usually prefer the original .. but not in this case..

I think the standards have been excellent throughout, but I'd go for Supremacy myself. It has the most heart and a really great narrative that deals with guilt and forgiveness.... Bourne goes on a real moral journey in it.

I watched Basic Instinct just for the craic - no, not that crack - becuz I haven't seen in for ages and was curious to see if it's graphic depiction of sexuality still possessed any power. In truth, it's rather tame now in comparison to what has followed in film and in mainstream culture over the last decade or more and what you're left with is just a well made, glossy piece of thrash. Soundtrack is killer though.

Recently watched a little known US TV movie from about 12 years ago called Dead Husbands, starring Nicolette Sheridan (Desperate Housewives) the late John Ritter. In a nutshell, it's about a group of wives who scheme to get their husbands killed one by one depending on where their husband stands on the waiting list.
It has the feel of a surreal, black comedy not dissimilar to Death Becomes Her without the fantasy elements or special effects. The script, soundtrack and acting are high quality and have no right to be this good for low-budget fare. However, what lets Dead Husbands down a little bit is the convoluted storyline, plodding, uneven pacing and stagey, uninspired direction. Don't let that put you off though. This is really more than worth checking out if you still have a video cassette recorder and don't mind going to the trouble of getting hold of a copy,

Wanted - Ridiculous, disposable action flick that I've already forgotten and I'm only after watching it. Silly stuff. McAvoy elevates it somewhat though by his presence alone.
