I used to live in Walthamstow, not sure why in particular a march is going through there? Its been regenerated and is pretty upmarket now so its strange, surely they should be marching on Downing Street

I wonder how well attended they will be now (a) they have given the locations they are attacking...I mean demonstrating in, I would expect a big police presence unless is a red herring and (b) now prison sentences are being handed down

TBH I think there is something psychologically different about choosing to fly your home country's flag on your wall (indoors) when you're an expat living in another country, and choosing to do so when you still live in that country. I can see myself having a Scotland flag on the wall if I moved to Australia. I wouldn't have one on my wall... here in Scotland.

I don't think it necessarily means anything but it would definitely make me question what message is being sent.

If I see a Union Jack on a Scottish house I immediately think it's a Unionist message. If I see a Saltire I assume it's a pro-indy statement. When I see a Union Jack in England... pre-2017 I'd have assumed just a Royalist type, post 2017 I unfortunately automatically go to Brexiteer.

Sometimes those assumptions will be wrong but human beings are pattern-seekers. It'll often be correct.

I think anywhere outside of the US flying your country's flag in or on your home is a bit odd while still in that country (unless it's for some occasion) Here in Ireland you'd be much more likely to see county flags hung from houses as more of a GAA thing

Mr C was clearing out the garage yesterday and found two of those red and white not sure what you would call them .... threads....from some final we attended years ago, we dont have an Irish flag though

We have an Irish flag from when Luke was in a Karate competition a few years ago and there were a few different countries competing, we never hung it at home anywhere though

Perhaps it gives a sense of home when flying the flag abroad.

The Muslim households dont just fly normal flags, they go full on tapestry mode, some really elaborate designing on them. I always asked which country is it, and was always met with a friendly reply.
