She insists on her own way, extra food, ciggies from the only housemate who has any left. The others give in because they know if she doesnt get her own way she will fly off on one, that is a form of intimidation, its the way spoiled children bully their parents, etc.

And she isnt the one singled out, she broke away, there is a difference.

Wasnt standing up to Vinnie, its called being a greedy get. and awkward, she knew the corned beef was being kept to be used for a meal, she wanted some so opened it, causing some of it to spoil(go hard).

Everyone had agreed to rationiing the food supplies and allocate items to specific meals, no one objected, till madam wanted to buck the system and play the rebel.

She wasnt ostracised she was asked not to open stuff that was earmarked for meals for everyone.

And it was not so much how much corned beef she had taken, its more to do with the fact she didnt reseal the corned beef and it started to spoil.
