Come on man live life to the max! Don't bother with feeling fit or seeing the world or any of the other hundreds of thousands of amazing things the universe has to offer. You're really not getting the most from it unless you know that feeling of hanging out the window first thing in the morning packing nicotine into your system.

I mean you could be waiting for the bus or you could be smoking whilst waiting for the bus. Serious buzz.

Anti smokers annoy the hell out of me too but I know I'm being very dickish when I'm smoking. I used to love these 'you only get one life' arguments too but they are complete fodder. What like you have to smoke to enjoy this one life or something?

All this B.S. about living life to the max, mannnn. What you need tobacco for that? All it does is temporarily give you the sensation of relaxation and stress reduction non smokers enjoy all the time. A cigarette doesn't make you feel better after a meal. It just makes you feel normal like every non smoker at the table. It's called addiction. It fills an insivible hole for about half an hour.

Again I can't stand the anti smoking brigade - people can smoke all they want - but at the same time I'm long, long past my youthful rebellion days of smoking apologetics. It's a fucking retarded habit.
yeah i do believe trying things, cigs, booze, drugs, gambling or whatever makes you happy is living your life in a much more productive way than not trying but still having an opinion on them things.
and i agree i'd like to stop one day, but when i'm good and ready, not when other people say so

I agree on everything but cigarettes there. Gambling can be a wild ride and psychoactive drugs get you out of it. Cigarettes ... yeah ... they are something in life to try but they don't really contribute anything other than vast sums of taxes to shady governments, vast sums of profit to companies who don't give a damn about your well being and poor health for the user.

All without even getting high. If weed was freely available nevermind booze ... people would see the serious pointlessness in cigarettes.

Of course you do not have to smoke to enjoy life - but to for Arista to respond to another poster (who said they would blow smoke 'in his way') - and Arista replying that he would knock that person down and arrest them (which begs the question: arrest them for what) - that's a bit much imo.

Some people enjoy smoking. Yes enjoy it. It's not for you or anyone else to tell them they don't enjoy it.

I can't find the post where anyone has said having a smoke after a meal makes them feel better. I can see posts that say they enjoy, cherish etc, not I can't find one that says the person feels better?

I happen to know many people who will have a cigarette only once or twice a day - after a meal, or with a pint -and are lucky if they smoke 10 fags a week. That's not an addiction: that's enjoyment -and one that they chose.

To bang the 'no, it's an addiction' drum is folly. Every smoker is different.

And before you go reply to me with your standard "You are looking for an argument", I'll clarify that my post above is merely pointing out the salient inaccuracies, as I see them, within your reply that should be taken into consideration.

You might be trying too hard there Pyramid. My post was hardly going to apply to every smoker on the planet. Just the vast majority.

My post had nothing to do with anything Arista said either. I think we can all agree he is a bit ... yeah. I don't see why passive smoking is such a hot topic for someone who never leaves his flat.

I don't need to try hard Stu. I don't believe I said that your post related to Arista. I merely added to the thrust of the discussion, that I felt Arista's view on smokers and what he would do, was OTT. I merely put up my thoughts on your reply.

I was also taking the time to point out that not everyone who choses to have a smoke - can be regarded as addicted.

Everything is relative.

I agree with you, the thread asks if smokers have rights, I say of course they do and you make full and valid points that show why it should remain so.

Just as much as anyone else, I guess. In essence, I do understand what you're saying, but they still have rights.
