If you'd take off your biased glasses for a second and actually give it a little thought, I think you would see a different picture.

Watch and listen to her when she isn't playing up to the persona; she isn't stupid at all. She's not a genius but she's not thick, she's quite level-headed and fair, and has a fairly sensible head on her shoulders when she feels like it. Had she gone down a "normal" path in life, she would certainly be perfectly "employable". Having known a few "skanks" in my time, I can also assure you she's not even close. I've also seen her described as a "chav"... when she doesn't speak or act like a chav at all and, if you;ve seen Geordie Shore, her parents live in a quiet suburb and are clearly decently well off middle-class people.

No. What you have is a fairly intelligent girl who got involved with a fun-sounding show about going out and getting drunk (as the vast majority of teenagers do) when she was very young - 19 or 20. She was actually quite different in the first series. A pisshead, maybe, but many of us were at that age. The amount I could drink and stay sober at 20 was utterly obscene. The show took off and became essentially a parody of itself, and the characters being portrayed became more and more amplified versions of themselves.

It also makes them a lot of money. So they've taken it and run with it. A good idea? Maybe not. She acts up to what's expected of her because it's what will keep her in a job - you can see written all over her face sometimes that she doesn't 100% enjoy doing it - but it's her job. Unfortunately, BECAUSE of how far this persona has taken her, she may NOW find it difficult to get into a "normal" career. A few cast members have actually quit Geordie Shore for that very reason - one left at the end of the very first season to return to his normal, decently paying job... because he had obviously realised that he could potentially be ruining his long-term prospects in exchange for "quick money".

Those who are still involved 7 seasons down the line? They really don't have much choice but to milk it for all it's worth. So contrary to what you think of her; I think it's fairly obvious that she's acting like this because she isn't stupid.

A wasted opportunity? Maybe. She could have used BB to be more down-to-earth and real, show the more intelligent side, and the caring side. She has, a little bit. She might do more before the end, I don't know.

But then again, outright showing that the "Geordie Shore Charlotte" is just an exaggerated persona would be a very risky move, as the show is still current.

Granted, some would say their job is better than a 40 hour a week min wage job (which would bring in around the same amount) but I know which one I would prefer

Well, to use one example, James from GS started it living in the box room at his parent's house and now he drives a brand new sports car and is constantly snapped at expensive resorts abroad with his new girlfriend. I think the Ł250 a week figure may be slightly on the low side. The amount they're actually paid by MTV pales in comparison to what they make from the show overall, from appearances, other shows, magazine shoots etc... how much is Charlotte being paid for BB, for example? Apparently Bruce is lowest at Ł15k, so at least Ł20k? Probably more. She's not really at the low end of the scale of people they'll have drafted in to draw an audience. I'd guess Ł50k+...

Obviously, Geordie Shore isn't in the same league in terms of popularity as the US version Jersey Shore - but they're both MTV shows and started on the same premise. "The Situation" is a multi-millionaire... how much of that do you think actually came in his MTV paycheck?

Yeah on second thoughts they probably do make a lot from interviews, and PAs and stuff.

I don't know where my brother got his figures from but hes a massive fan of the show and he said a while back that thats what they got paid. He was (jokingly I hope) wanting to go on himself when hes 18.

I hope he goes down the other career path and sticks to becoming a doctor as he is planning now. The thought of him giving up something like that to be paid to shag, crap and puke on TV is sickening
