There's all the obvious ones but then ...
I've had poos funnier than Stewart Lee. I have no doubt he is an erudite, talented writer with his index finger up the culture clunge but a slew of his stand up material comes off as dry run for a 90 minute mental masturbation that never quite climaxes. A bit like my life admittedly only I'm not putting a charge on the door. He's got this mundane sort of post everything, supreme hate type schtick that would get thumbed up under a Guardian article but on T.V. most of it is just lost on me. The humor. Not the routine. He breeds that type of fans - some not all - who will insist if you don't like him you just don't get it. As if they were behold to some comedy meta tribe. Consumers of better constructed belly laughs than - woe - the denizens of the comedy panel shows he failed to get booked on for years not because audiences didn't get his jokes but because they did and they were just a bit **** really. Ironic too that so much of his material relies so heavily on the stuff he is ripping on in the first place. Which is normal for comedy yeah but somewhat dangerous if what you are relying on is itself what you're trying to sell back as less refined comedy. Russell Brand's book is crap HAHAHA. Del Boy fell through the bar. Then Trigger made a face. Then Stewart Lee dragged in out for twenty minutes. Last edited by Stu; 26-03-2014 at 04:59 PM. |

I thought Leonardo di Caprio in the Titanic wasn't very funny at all. Never made me laugh once, oh except at the end.

I have the Eddie Izzard boxset. I have to admit as much as I like him and as great as the laughs are when they do come there's a whole lot of waffle to eat through. Plus he's crap now anyway. He's been **** for years hasn't he. Needs to stop talking about jogging and put on a dress. |

no i understand, he's become a bit samey, but I suppose that happens with everyone and moreso when you build yourself up as the anti-comedian or whatever.

Theres load of great ones far to many to list, but the crap ones for me are the ones who use their race or weight as the whole basis of their comedy act. there is nothing more to them. just cause they are black or muslim. doesn't mean you have to just do race jokes all the time. it really pisses me of lol , that's not comedy that's just lazy and easy that anyone could do.
did anyone watch the apollo show the other day with the guy and his talking socks. he was good until he done that god that was sad.

i hate cocky comedians like russell brand who thinks he's a rock star. I'm convinced most comedians imagine themselves to be rock stars in their heads. I find those types obnoxious. It's like they are doing a poor imitation of the popular boys they were jealous of in high school. they were humiliated losers in high school, so they sat in their room, and wrote out clever things to say if they had the balls to say them. and then they get to go on stage and just recite the clever things it took them 2 years to write, but present it as if they are just speaking from their head, even though every show they say the same thing word for word. it's a memorized act. they aren't clever or fun in real life at all though, when you meet most comedians in real life, they are the same losers they were in high school when they don't have a script memorized.

In an era when people choose to take offence at anything and everything, most comedian's are flawed.

Seann Walsh definitely, so unfunny. I've never laughed at an Eddie Izzard "joke" either.

Tim Minchin is uh-mazing (not to mention a ridiculously talented pianist) and if you want a witty, intelligent criticism of religion in the form of song he's the man to turn to.
Not only that, but he's actually capable of some heartfelt stuff too: |

..yeah I would agree with that, it was Jesus that got me into him/the member Jesus, not the son of God...watching Tim Minchin always makes me think of him/I miss him loads... |
